We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Speaker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Omg risk taking is the scariest thing you can do with your career! HOWEVER, it is the most freeing thing you can do for yourself. You will be at a “loss” for a year or so buuuut only financially.. every other way will encourage you to grow and work to build yourself, there is something about it that is far better than financial success. Success to me is living life as you want: taking trips, buying a house or land, being happy and being able to save. I’m not about the money, as much as I am about creating a fun and encouraging environment for everyone involved. Life is about good community and I want to convey that to people. Money will not save you, community will!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Here’s a little run down! After a few years barbering, I saw how needed groomsmen parties were of barbering services. Do to the amount of usual groomsmen I noticed and issues traveling and getting to the shop at a certain time. I figured, why not bring it to them?! We are here to put ease on your special day and make sure your groomsmen are looking picture perfect! We are a 25’ travel trailer converted in to a 2 station mobile barbershop. We can travel to the groomsmen, or venue of choice. We come fully equipped with a quiet generator for power (or plug in to power), we set up with chairs under the awning, A/C, complimentary drinks, music, etc.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friend is coming to visit for a week! I of course will be taking her to my favorite beaches along the SD coast, but there is not enough time I a week to go to all the great spots around town. That being said, I have some top must sees. I am all about small local spots, like LTH in Oceanside, dons country kitchen, swamis, Las olas, and the light house in the harbor. I also love nature and want to take her out on the boat to fish and a hike to see the land. If it were a normal year, I’d see about taking her to the races at delmar and then a show after. The beaches are by far my favorite place to take visitors, and look forward to doing so!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shout out to a local Oside business metroflex and it’s owner Lou! He has stood up and suffer the consequences of repressing our freedom in this state and county. I could not describe a more perfect person for who represents small business. In tough times it takes a serious representative to bring forth our ability to stand for freedom and our dedication to our work. I could not think of a more productive situation that was made from negative circumstances, and for that I am honored to consider metroflex a fellow honorable business to support!! Cheers!
