We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicholas Salazar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicholas, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Really good question. I feel like risk taking has brought me to where I am today, If I didn’t take the risk’s that I have taken I would not be where I’m at as a person and individual, taking risks has brought me to where I’m running business’s while trying to figure myself as a person and as a musical artist. Taking risks has allowed me to get signed to different music labels across the United States. I feel as though if I didn’t take risks I would be listening to a lot of people about what my limits are as a person, I think a lot of people including myself get comfy with safety and comfort, which can actually get in the way of our true potential. There are things in my life where I’m still trying to weigh the options of some of the decisions I’ve made, and if I actually follow through with these things it will be life changing such has spreading my music brand in other countries, The opportunity is there and has presented its self, but there is no guarantee that It will happen, a lot of it has to do with fear, fear of the unknown, fear of things going wrong, but that doesn’t mean I’m still not going to try and get these things done and over with, It’s a mind game. Maybe I’m wrong but I feel like risk and fear go hand in hand and its up to us to figure out how to get through that fear of risk taking. If things don’t work out well at least I went on a epic journey trying to make things happen. either way with risk taking I feel like amazing memories are created for me as a individual. We as humans need to challenge ourselves and no matter what risk plays apart of that, risks just need to be met head on.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a music producer and Dj, I have been involved in the Electronic Music scene in Las Vegas and the West coast since I was 16, I’m about to be 34 so its been a really long Journey for me. I’m signed to a number of labels across the United States, such As Mojoheadz Records out of Los Angeles, I just released my first Electronica E.P. on Beatport.com With Mojoheadz Records on 12-16-22 titled “Run Up” on Beatport. We also have date set for my next single called “Cafe 98” which has has had a lot of support from people on Soundcloud. it just seemed right that we release it, it’s going to be released on May 26, 2023 on all steaming platforms as usual.

I think the major thing that I get excited about is that I don’t know who I’m going to end up performing with when it comes to event’s, It usually starts with me going out for a weekend to show’s that are being thrown in my city, I would just say to myself “hey it would be cool to perform with this person” next thing I know the opportunity to perform with the musical act that I just saw presents itself and it just happens, My name gets added next to the date and before I know it I’m booked as a supporting act for artist’s such as  Fatima Hajji   from Spain, Or Rebekah from London, Both are heavy hitters in the Electronic Music scene, so it’s always just a surprise for me. I never know what to expect.

I would say that I got to where I’m at professionally by taking risks and by being passionate about the music that I represent, also by not being afraid of getting my hands dirty by doing the work that no one wants to do, I feel like a lot of people expect things to get handed to them without doing the work and that’s never a good thing. Anything that I have today has been earned 2fold even if people don’t want to recognize or see it. It wasn’t easy getting to where I’m at today, There has been a lot of struggles since I’ve first started out and there have been times where I did feel like giving up but I chose not to, I overcame these Challenges by becoming more of a responsible person and doing what was best for me and no one else, Sometimes you just have to listen to yourself… Period!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If we are taking about San Deigo, You need to check out Phil’s BBQ on 3750 Sports Arena Blvd. I’m a big fan of BBQ and I love their Baby Back Ribs, SO GOOD! really great staff! and amazing food! If your in the mood for sushi I would check out SOICHI on 2121 Adams Ave. I’m a lover of all thing sushi and their menu is Amazing.

A number of nightclubs that I have visited as a attendee has been Onyx Room Nightclub on 852 Fifth Ave, and Parq Nightclub on 615 Broadway, which always has great music.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would not be where I’m at today without the promotion company known as Elation In Las Vegas, They have booked me for some really big events in the past that have put me on the map as a musical artist, Without them I don’t think I would be where I’m at today playing along side some of the acts that they have booked for the electronic music scene out in Vegas, There are also a handful of Music labels around the United states such as Mojoheadz recordings out of Los Angeles, MJS records out of San Diego, Production block of out of Atlanta Georgia, Along with the people of London Sound Academy in London, It really is a group effort and I’m grateful to know the people that I know across the United states and overseas. I do want to give a big shoutout to my family, I would not be where I’m at without there backing and support. I feel like I own them bigtime for the love and patience that they have shown me growing up. I was quite the knuckle-head “laugh out loud.”
