We had the good fortune of connecting with Misty Kearl and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Misty, what’s the most important think you’ve done for your children?
Promoting the freedom to choose & independence is the most important thing because it has helped my children gain confidence in knowing who they are, that they can achieve great things despite setbacks and help others along the way with inclusion vs exclusion.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a model, my art form shows up on different media platforms based on each job’s requirements. What sets me apart is being 42yrs old, 5’2” tall, a mom of 4 & having this opportunity especially when historically it’s been limited to a certain age group and aesthetic. The thing that excites me the most is not only working solo but together with my family on set. Originally, my husband encouraged me to sign with my kids at a talent agency in 2015. The ball has kept rolling ever since. The main challenge along the way is maintaining the correct mindset. To recognize my feelings vs. the status quo, to know the difference & that everyone’s experience/viewpoint is valid. That there’s always room for improvement & to not be afraid of it. If the world were to know one thing about me & my story, I would say that overcoming any obstacle in life is doable, whether it be physical, emotional, spiritual, or social.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I were to plan a week in San Diego with a visitor here, I would make sure to visit all my favorite spots as well as new ones on my list to do still. My favorite outdoor locations would include Balboa Park, Little Italy, Torrey Pines State Reserve, Del Mar Beach, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Seaport Village, Belmont Park, Coronado Island, Potato Chip Rock, Sunset Cliffs, Los Penasquitos Canyon Waterfall, La Jolla Cove and Sea Caves on kayaks or paddle boards. For a little shopping it would include One Paseo, Little Italy, Old Town, Seaport Village, Fashion Valley Mall & Westfield UTC. My favorite eateries would include Snooze for breakfast, Urban Plates, Tender Greens, Bushfire Kitchen, Joe & The Juice or Cava for lunch and BJ’s, The Kebab Shop, The Crack Shack, North Italia, Nick’s Del Mar or Amplified in PB for dinner. Even with this long list, I’d want to include a dinner cruise, whale watching, yoga in the park, zip lining in Pauma Valley, and some off-roading on the Ocotillo sand dunes.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The main person I’d like to dedicate my success to is my husband, Michael Kearl, because he has encouraged & supported me every step of the way in whatever I choose to do and more.
