We had the good fortune of connecting with Mireille Bertrand and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mireille, what is the most important factor behind your success?
By opening Maquillage USA, it’s truly my goal to elevate the level of makeup education offered in the United States. Our curriculum is specially tailored to prepare students for an IMMEDIATE transition from student to working professional. Yes, we educate in classrooms, but we are also often on location; we might have class one day at the beach, or in a warehouse, so students can experience what it’s like to be a working artist who doesn’t always have access to a clean table and perfect lighting. We also recognize that there are so many skills you need as a successful artist aside from just the raw talent, which is why we also offer in-depth courses on Business and Etiquette. This make the success of our school.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
About Mireille Bertrand

Fascinated with makeup ever since she was a child growing up in France, Mireille Bertrand is recognized by her peers and leaders in the beauty and fashion fields as one of the finest working artists today.

“She is living proof of artistic sense, dedication, motivation and success.”

With over twenty years in the industry, my skills and experience have covered makeup and hair design for performers, actors, and models, in print, electronic media, and live shows. I have earned multiple diplomas in Aesthetics, Cosmetology, Make-up Artistry, Advanced Make-up and Skincare as well as in Business Development.

Early in my career, I assisted extensively on runway shows in Paris, London, and Milan with designers such as Moschino, Armani, and Christian Dior. I’ve applied my makeup magic for the respected Galleries Lafayettes in Paris where I promoted prestigious companies like Yves Saint Laurent, Estee Lauder, and Dior. I specialize in underwater makeup application, and this year I was delighted to be honored along with celebrity stylist Maryl Velbeck at NAHA (North American Hair Styling Awards) for Editorial Stylist of the Year for our famous underwater piece “Sirens of the Sea.”

Destiny brought me to Miami and Los Angeles where I do makeup and hair artistry and have been featured in advertising promotions for Sue Wong, Georgio Armani, Baccarat, and dozens of other respected names. My work has prominently appeared in numerous magazines such as world-famous Glamour, Marie-Claire, Modern Bride, and Elle. With my talent, creativity, and ability to bring the looks of the world’s fashion runways to the red carpet, I have been blessed with the opportunity to work with some of the most beautiful and sought-after faces in Hollywood.

Today, my passion for makeup and my years of experience also allow me to do what I love most: share my knowledge in my own establishment. I am the founder and creative director of MAQUILLAGE USA, a one-of-a-kind professional makeup school that offers an in-depth curriculum featuring courses in everything from Beauty to Special Effects. It is the only makeup school in the U.S. that provides photo sessions every week and a full week of business etiquette, ensuring that all students are fully prepared to start working in the industry immediately upon graduation.

I’ve accumulated over 25 years of experience in this industry, in Europe, the U.S., and all over the world as an artist and a teacher, and the curriculum at Maquillage USA is really a reflection of my career and the skills I know a successful artist needs. I want my school to be filled with students who are inspired every day, and are happy to walk into the classroom, but are also ready to buckle down and work extremely hard. I expect only the best from my students, and believe they have what it takes to make a successful life as a makeup artist with a Maquillage Diploma in hand.
