Meet Mike Vinze | Photographer/Filmmaker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Vinze and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mike, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
When I was young, I would never have thought of myself as an artistic person. I always envied those who had a talent for drawing. I could never get the image on my mind and put it on paper. Not until I picked up a camera. I have discovered a way to express my creativity through photos or videos. I can now have an idea and bring it to reality At the same time have the ability to set a certain mood. Through the content that I produce, I hope to inspire or provoke a certain emotion in my audience.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a photographer first, I enjoy shooting landscapes, portraits, cars, and sometimes streets. But the ones that I am most proud of are planning concept ideas for a photo. I think that is where I can use all the skill sets I accumulated and try to create an original image of my own. I got to where I am at through trial and error. When I first started photography I had no idea what kind of style or edit I wanted my photos to portray, but as the years went on I do believe I have a certain style I enjoy showing my audience. To this day my style of photo continues to evolve as I learn new things. I want to show the world to never be content with your art or passion and keep developing your knowledge of your craft.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Los Angeles is a massive city, but anyone that visits LA must check out Santa Monica and Malibu beach. Nothing beats sunsets on those beaches. As for food, a necessary stop has to be In n Out for the most iconic fast food joint to try out. There are also plenty of club venues to enjoy the nightlife. Some of my personal favorites are Avalon, Academy La, Exchange La, Catch One, and many more for nights to come. Finally, they have to visit some photogenic locations of Los Angeles that I think defines the city. Those areas would be Elysian Park, Ascot Hills, Griffith Observatory, Venice Canals, and 6th st Bridge.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Even though I have been doing photography since 2016. I haven’t found a group of like-minded individuals till early 2021. Marc (@marchristopher_), Kevin (@Kevin_t12), Jesse (@Jesse.shoots), Jesse (@_la_homage), Julie (@photosbyjulyyy), and Erick (@freetransfer) are the group of people that I have luckily met throughout 2021. Since then, they have motivated me to go out and shoot and inspire me to keep growing in my craft.
