We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Glanz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mike, can you tell us about an impactful book you’ve read and why you liked it or what impact it had on you?
I’ve read pretty much every business book known to man… but the book I’ve found most inspiring to me as a leader has been Suprised by Hope by NT Wright. Wright paints an inspirational picture of the future of the life and world we are meant to live in and be a part of. I often find myself thinking about how I can do my part to build a piece of that world in the market where we operate, in our workplace with our employees, and even in my home life with my family. If you are looking for something outside of the normal “Good to Great” or “Winning” that’s going to motivate you down to your soul, I highly recommend it!

What should our readers know about your business?
I started Hireahelper.com out of a storage closet with a 2nd on my parents house and grew it to $20m+ sales before selling to Porch.com in 2018. Since they I have run the moving division at Porch.com and continued on with the same team. In the 170 months we’ve been in business we have only had 2 months ever where we didn’t experience YOY growth.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Yellow Deli in Vista is like another world. If you haven’t eaten there it’s an experience. It’s out go-to for taking partners and clients, as well as friends. Our new favorite for fun is The Golf Bar in Clairemont area… you can play 18 holes of Pebble Beach in an hour at lunch. Then of course mexican food: Los Tacos, Santana’s, *bertos, if you are visiting San Diego and you don’t eat a burrito a day, you’re doing it wrong!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My wife. Any married entrepreneur understands. The spouse is the unsung hero in every successful entrepreneurs story.
