We had the good fortune of connecting with Miguel Sanchez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Miguel, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
As a young adult you’re taught to pick one thing early for your career and stick to that one thing for the rest of your life. Any or everything else is obsolete. In this life time curiosity kills that notion fast. Dabbling in many work ventures puts you ahead of those that only stick to one thing. Its a beautiful venture, simply because, well, you acquire different skill sets. And while being in different ventures you also learn what you don’t like. Which in turn allows you to hone in on that one thing you eventually decide to stick to. This type of conventional advice creates this facade of a ticking bomb. Restrictions, as if theres a timeline. Pressure, creating unnecessary anxiety. Life is long, life is an adventure, one must experience life to learn, explore and understand, the true key to growing a passion and turning it to a career.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
When they say, “its about the journey, more so then the end result.” They’re right. This thing called life, its an adventurous rollercoaster. I knew what direction I wanted to go for a very long time before it became a reality. It took a lot of turns, a lot of if’s and maybes, plenty of doubts and insecurities. The funny part is that, I am literally just getting started. I am proud to say I am both a Strength/Rehab Coach and a Remedial Massage Therapist. Creator of Stay in Motion Therapy. I work with individuals dealing with chronic pain, physical and mental limitations. I help them get physically stronger, so that they can enjoy their lifestyle. Which in turn helps them become a better version of themselves, for their profession/careers, their families, and for themselves. Getting here was not easy, buts thats the beauty of it. Struggle builds character, creates lessons to push forward. Asking for help is an essential key to success. Acquiring a mentor was the necessary vehicle to drive through the unknown. Having incredible support from special life long friends and family. Truly takes a village to become great at anything. No such thing as “self-made” without a team. Seeing the incredible transformation my clients have made and continue to make, fuels me to continue. What sets me apart? I don’t believe in the concept of theres a one size fits all approach. My priorities rely on knowing the root of your WHY. Once thats revealed, we get straight to work. And along the way we revisit, often. Because life changes, and so do we. We adapt and keep moving.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Sunny San Diego! Oh man. Not good at memorizing places. But thanks to google maps, thats how I get to explore. Beach central. We’d visit Solana Beach work our way down to Mission beach. Food. All the food. Hikes, endless hikes. Man not to sure Id be good at this. So id probably have a friend tag along to help with this adventure. Someone really acquainted with the city it what it has to offer. Sorry!
