Hi Merek, what are you inspired by?
I am inspired by my family. My family and loved ones are the people that light a fire inside of me to be my best self everyday; to wake up every morning and give 100% into everything I do. My tenacious character is highly influenced by my parents. My mom is one of six kids; her upbringing was not an easy one. She started delivering newspapers on a paper route when she was only eight years old and would pick berries and cucumbers over the summers with her siblings. My mom ended up moving to San Diego and helped turn a small business into the largest personal injury firm in all of San Diego. To say the very least, my mom is one of the most hard working individuals I have ever met. She has helped nurture my drive and grit for success. My dad was a bodybuilder in college and ended up starting a nutrition company, “Max Muscle,” when he was only 23 years old. My dad’s company has been going strong for over 30 years and I have seen the dedication he has put in everyday to make his business successful. The long hours my dad worked showed me the passion and drive he had to be successful. Growing up, my dad would bring me and my siblings to work over the summer. Folding shirts in the warehouse and filing papers in the accounting office were small tasks that taught me at a young age that you have to put in work to get where you want to be, and things in life are not just handed to you, they are earned.
I am so thankful for my parents and the valuable life lessons they have taught me about hard work and that you must go after things you want in life. My family inspires me everyday because I constantly see the hard work and dedication all my siblings put in everyday as well. My older sister works long hours at a top consulting firm, my brother trains as a D1 golfer at UCLA, and my younger brother overcame trials through six years in a wheelchair. I am inspired by the hard work my parents and siblings put in everyday and I am thankful to have learned life lessons and skills from each of them.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a 20 year old REALTOR® from Orange County, CA. I work as an agent at The One Group in Mission Hills, San Diego covering residential real estate across Southern California. I am proud to work on a team with incredible accomplishments, including over $100 million in sales. The One Group has a client first-mindset serving residential properties, investment properties, and more. As the only college student on the team, I bring a fresh and younger approach to the industry, focusing on tying in creative social media marketing to cater to the 21st Century online world. I am very thankful for my journey and where I am now in my career. I still have a long way to go but I am so grateful to be getting experience and working with my own clients. This journey has definitely not been easy and has taken a lot of hard work and determination. Being a college student, I constantly need to be proving myself everyday and show that even though I may be younger, I am able to get the job done and be there for my client every step of the way. I want to prove that age is only a number, and the success you have is made through the hard work and determination you have, and not based on your age.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
As I mentioned previously, my parents and family constantly inspire and support me and my goals everyday. Their hard work in life continually pushes me to stay dedicated and reminds me that I constantly need to be putting in work if I want to be successful. I also want to give a shout out to my mentor and team lead at The One Group, Seth Struiksma. He has been working in the real estate industry for twelve years and has a lot of experience as an agent himself, as well as the renovation and investment side of real estate too. I am very thankful to get to shadow and learn from him everyday. He has taken me under his wing and has taught me so much about the business and the hard work it takes to be successful.
