We had the good fortune of connecting with Masie Kuh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Masie, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
One thing most people are not aware of when it comes to artist is that you are not just paying for the artwork you recieve. You are paying an artist for their life long accumulation of knowledge that allows them to create a masterpiece for you. I have spent my entire life learning, fine tuning, and creating my craft. I went to art school, I’ve spent hours slaving away over my art. My entire life’s work has been channeled into each painting, that is something that has value and is hard to put a price on.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from other pet portrait artists is my deep love and connection with animals, as well as my ability to capture their personality in the painting. There is something extremely special about the way I paint eyes. It is the eyes that really capture the spirit of the animal.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I always bring people to the beach! Walking around Encinitas and Leucadia is always a good time. I love to get healthy food at Nectarine Grove, Healthy Creations, or Goodonyah. I will never let a friend visit without taking them to Josh Vincent’s yoga class on Sundays at Gather. Hands down the best yoga experience anyone will ever have! Honestly a life changing practice.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank Aaron, Eric, and Devi Klein for supporting me in my journey in creating this Pet Portrait business. Without their guidance, generosity, and love, I would not have been able to be where I am today.
