We had the good fortune of connecting with Mas Vidal Maheshananda and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mas Vidal, what do you attribute your success to?
I created MoreLife Market to encourage people in the USA to embrace the wisdom of Ayurveda. Our products are meant for yogis, and health enthusiasts who understand the importance of nature and the elements and their role in balanced health. Our products are made in India, the land of yogis, and support rural families and we dedicate a portion of our proceeds to charities we are aligned with. MoreLife Market is a superstore to get the most out of life. That means that our products focus on promoting longevity, immunity, healthy digestion, and balance with nature. Our customers realize that quality is important only if you integrate quality products with mindfulness. Our success comes from creating products that give back to the customer through low price points, high grade, organic and large quantities compared to what’s available in the industry. We have learned to make Ayurveda herbal products accessible and inviting for the western mindset. The point we have been able to get across through our brand and community is that everyone needs to practice prevention because nobody is granted perfect health. Life is a gift and if you include herbs, spices, body oils etc.. in your diet and lifestyle it will make a tremendous difference in the quality of your life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an Ayurvedic practitioner and have been doing this for two decades in a country where few people even understand what Ayurveda is or means. Ayurveda is a medical system that promotes balance between mind and body. It is founded on the five great elements and aims to keep these elements in balance within the mind-body complex. It is probably one of the oldest systems of medicine in the world that was developed in India. Ayurveda teaches a person how to live in harmony with nature by learning to observe the changes that occur within our physiology when the seasons change. Ayurveda teaches us to eat accordingly to our unique mind-body type. Ayurveda quite simply is anti-standardization. Everything is applied according to the unique disposition or constitution of a person. In Ayurveda, we treat humans, while allopathy (western medicine) treats diseases. I took a tremendous risk when I decided to make Ayurveda my career in a country where meat, alcohol, drugs, surgery, and a stressful lifestyle are so predominant. Never for one day has it been easy, I have to constantly stay active doing lectures, creating workshops, traveling, and marketing via books, social media, and more to keep introducing new people to this profound system of healing. I consider my counseling practice the education side of my work and my brand MoreLife Market the nutritional side. Together these two bring great balance to my clients and students all over the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would probably charge up our day with a nice organic Mocha at Lofty Coffee and then we would head over to the SRF Meditation Gardens in Encinitas, Calif to pray, meditate and set positive intentions and then we would head over to DelMar dog beach to walk down the beautiful coastline. Then we would head over to Plant Power Fast Food for some veggie burgers, french fries, and yummy milkshakes. To digest our lunch we would head over to the San Diego Botanic Gardens to relax and let nature invigorate us. I would end or day with a coastal ride on my E-bikes and stop off at many different beaches.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to recognize Paramahansa Yogananda who is considered the father of yoga in the west for the wisdom he brought to America. He introduced yoga, ayurvedic principles, the importance of diet, vegetarianism, living in harmony with nature, and most of all seeking God for attaining Real happiness. Yogananda lay the foundation for living an evolutionary life that has led me in a Godward direction, for over 30 years. I also want to Shoutout Swami Jyotirmayananda for teaching me how to integrate the spiritual wisdom principles of India’s great culture as a living practice and a balanced lifestyle.
