We had the good fortune of connecting with Marvin Stancil and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marvin, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Somehow my artistic development through videography pursued me. Even though I am front and center every reggae event, concert, and festival. My love for videography was personal. It wasn’t until I discovered social media and the feedback I received from fans and actual artists made it apparent this is a creative career.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a content creator you must create and that’s what I do with my phone. What sets me apart from most content creators is my background in Social Science. When I am recording I am also gathering and synthesizing real time information. Coordinating not only my physical movements but also adjusting my frame of mind to capture their raw emotions and feelings expressed in their movements. I am not just a guy with a phone in my hand.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have never followed a Reggae artist from concert tour. That would be awesome to take my best friend to Europe where most Jamaican artists tour and go from city to city learning different cultures. Tasting different types of homeland foods. I would truly love to do drive a car on the opposite side of the road.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to shot out Niki. She is the mother of my sons Mfalme and Mutombo. She is very supporting of my mission to build my brand Majeekal Mediyah as a recognized videographer. Also the dubsisterz Alice and Sheila. They have supported my drive by donating tickets to me just to go out a create majeekal content.
