We had the good fortune of connecting with Marsha Gardner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marsha, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
Learning about Jehovah and not to give up
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My Name is Marsha Gardner. I starting baking at a young age helping my Mother in the kitchen prep for elaborate parties. She would always have me help her bake cakes and do the most physical part, However at the end the result was amazing. I was always had a love for art in High School. Won awards and also attend the Art institute. However I drifted of into the medical industry. I did enjoy the medical field however my love for creating new things with my artistry never vanished i.e drawing.
In 2014 I was going through a difficult trail in my life a separation that eventually lead to divorce. Being one of Jehovah Witnesses carried me through the rainstorm and love I received through my congregation, family and close friends.
My cousin asked me to attend her Sister’s baby shower and I was thinking what can I bring as a gift. I decided to do a cake, I watched Cake Boss and a few episodes of YouTube and made my first fondant cake. Everyone was surprise by the artistry and taste. Ever since then I made a future of baking cakes and gourmet cupcakes.
Over the years I’ve come across some opportunities through word of mouth or personal referrals or just people that walked up to me. However all opportunities in life is not always the best option. Speaking for myself. Sometimes that presented a challenge. Once I decided to truly make this to be my career path I made a choice that I didn’t want to work for anyone else-expect me. I never wanted to be someone’s pawn or a fill-in: nor a person that could have someone make decisions for me, which could possibly deviate from my faith. Two- I wanted to make my own schedule and not be overworked. Its important to me to enjoy life and focus on the more important things,- Philippians 1:10. Money and material possession’s is not my primary importance in life. My family is.
I have one pastry food truck which I serve gourmet cupcakes, hand-rolled ice cream- to the public and catering events. We offer delivery services right to you’re front door. We offer custom cakes, cupcakes, full fledge dessert bars, cheesecake cakes and lastly our famous “Cake It Jars” We also provide nationwide shipping.
What I’ve accomplished thus far is far beyond what I could have ever imagined for myself. Marsha Sweet Cakes main focus is
to provide true quality desserts! QUALITY VRS. QUANTITY. Are cakes are amazingly moist, Tasting is believing! Seeing my clients happy is what makes my day and allows me to have a sweet day!
Not everything in this cake/design industry is clear cut and dry. The internet has helped me tremendously other cake artist like myself that I look up to. It’s all through trail and era at the end of the day and confidence within yourself. I have overcome many obstacles and it will continue. I’ve learned through every experience it makes me a stronger person and a better baker, The important thing is not to give up. “Impossible is just an opinion; it’s not a fact” – Marsha Gardner
