We had the good fortune of connecting with Marc Pollock, bassist from the popular Los Angeles cover band Seize The Night, and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marc, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Given that my band performs at many private events, dependability, reliability, punctuality, and professionalism are very important to the people hiring us. For many of them, the event represents a very special day and it’s vital to them that all aspects of the event go off without a hitch. Anyone who has put on an event knows the stress that goes along with the planning and execution. Not having to worry that you’re band will show up, be prepared, be properly equipped, and follow your agenda is always appreciated by our clients, and keeps us getting referrals for new clients.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve never really had the desire to write my own original music, but I’ve always had passion reproducing note for note the great Classic Rock and Funk hits of the 70s. The closeness I feel to the original musician when I’m actually able to reproduce what they’ve created is what drives my passion.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love good food and love to dine out. Two of my go to spots would be Apple Pan for the burgers and banana cream pie, and Mastro’s for a bone-in ribeye, lobster mashed potatoes, snap peas sautéed to perfection, and an incredible dining experience. When I want to take my mind off things and be in a calm environment, I will go to the model airplane airstrip on Woodley near Burbank and watch the model airplanes takeoff and land. I enjoy watching the miniature jet planes soar across the sky, for some reason the exhilaration calms me. And if I’m lucky, the ice cream man will show up and I can get a banana fudge popsicle!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I was fortunate enough to be raised in the 70s with incredible musicians and incredible music being created. I owe my beginnings in music to my mother who forced me to take piano lessons at an early age, and to my father who owned a nightclub with live music, and also co-produced the 1966 Beatles concert in Cleveland. I had great exposure to live music and musicians, and enjoyed playing several different instruments as part of my upbringing.
