We had the good fortune of connecting with Lupe Flores and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lupe, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I always knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur. I’ve always loved flowers because it has a special meaning since my last name Flores, means flowers – I wanted to continue to bring honor to my parents. I came across a video in social media while I accidentally locked myself out of my apartment while moving and needed to wait over an hour for someone to arrive. And I noticed these beautiful flower walls and people taking pictures in front of a photo booth, it looked so much fun and loved how family and friends where creating beautiful memories. That’s how Photo Booth San Diego was created upon an “accident” by locking myself out, which at that time I felt helpless after losing my parents and needing to move, finding joy in witnessing family and friends gathering, and that I get to provide this photos for them as keepsakes.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’ve always been passionate about becoming an entrepreneur in the art industry, I love art! I love designing the photo templates that best matches event themes. I’m very detailed oriented, I want to make sure my guest are happy with the design. I’m still learning being a photo booth business owner and that’s the beauty, I always learn new things and knowledge takes you places in life. Starting a business is not easy in general, but that’s ok, that’s how I learn, that’s how I grown professionally and personally. The lessons I have learned is “Do not give up”, we all start from somewhere and this is my journey, I can’t compare my journey to others. I’m very happy that I started Photo Booth San Diego, a small business that captures special moments and it feels good to offer these services where family and guest can keep as mementos.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Where do I start…is San Diego! As a native San Diegan, I still have more exploring to do myself. I would definitely take them to the beach, a stroll at Seaport Village and Balboa Park with the architecture buildings and museums. Can’t forget San Diego Zoo, and San Diego has plenty of restaurant choices. Can’t go wrong with any Mexican restaurant in Old Town or Bahn Thai is one of my favorite Thai Foods. Last but not least, I love desserts, Extraordinary Desserts is one of my favorite dessert places.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Shoutout goes to my daughter Stacey, a resilient young lady whose bravery and intelligence shines through in everything she does. She approaches life’s challenges with courage that inspires everyone that knows her. including me. Her unwavering compassion to others is just a small glimpse that she has a beautiful soul. I am endlessly proud of the the woman she is becoming. I’m truly blessed to call her daughter.
