We had the good fortune of connecting with Liz Oz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liz, what do you attribute your success to?

Building a successful business takes a great deal of knowledge and understanding, not just passion; passion is just part of the equation. Running a small business requires a lot of commitment and ongoing learning to keep up with the pace of change and continuously gain skills and knowledge to improve the customer experience. It’s vital to be a life-learner, particularly in the fields of technology, marketing, and design.

Learning from mistakes is also key. Sometimes the most valuable learning comes from failure.

When I’m facing a challenging time, I always remind myself to look for the silver lining that I can apply later to my business and life. Success is not an accident and we have to rise above our challenges to achieve our goals.

It has been a great journey of self-discovery looking back. I don’t regret anything, even my mistakes were eye-opening experiences and inspired me to take action. As one of my favorite songs states: “Non, je ne regrette rien!”

Needless to say, the feeling of living my purpose is priceless, and having the opportunity to provide meaningful work for others is a real pleasure.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

PUNCHY focuses on bringing bold ideas to life. Basically, we help companies of all sizes launch and grow ideas. We are a diverse collective of brand builders made up of designers, marketers, storytellers, and technologists. Actually, we’re known for our creative 360° approach to problem-solving.

We particularly love working with startups and small businesses where we have maximum impact. In fact, we take pride in crafting brands and solutions that are modern, dynamic, and very eye-catching, all while keeping a clear brand message that resonates with the particular pain points of their customers.

How do we do this? Well, we do this through superb design, content, and strategy. Our process is highly collaborative and we listen to our clients’ needs for bringing new ideas to the table… You see, we help visionary entrepreneurs connect with their audiences in exciting ways, delivering amazing customer experiences.

But, honestly, It wasn’t always easy. To get to where I am today, I had to overcome the challenges of any entrepreneur such as finding a steady stream of great clients, adding extraordinary value to their business – and making them grow. That’s the most difficult part of being an entrepreneur.

It has been quite a journey. Life is full of ups and downs, but I’m obsessed with learning and challenging myself, and that mindset shaped the professional I am today.

Overall, making other people happy and seeing their brands grow is the most rewarding part of being an entrepreneur. I’ve never been happier… and of course, this is just the beginning.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

There are so many amazing things to do in San Diego!

A sunny day at Coronado Beach.
Saturday Farmer’s Market in Little Italy.
A morning run at Seaport Village/Marina.
Golden hour at Balboa Park.
A night on the town in Gaslamp or Little Italy.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this Shoutout to my amazing daughter, Evren. Her budding entrepreneurial spirit is a source of a lot of my inspiration. And my family who provides endless laughter, joy, and support along this incredible journey.
