We had the good fortune of connecting with Lina Shamoon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lina, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
When I started the business, I was kind of in a bad place. I was working at a job that I was very unhappy at, I was in a relationship that I wasn’t very happy with, I was far away from my family which was hard for me and I just wanted to do something that made me happy. It was kind of like an escape from the real world. I also wanted to make something that spreads joy to whoever saw it or came across one of my pieces in real life. I think my business has helped inspire many people to follow their dreams or even just create some art. The impact is pretty small but it is still there and it makes me very happy to know that.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always experimented a lot with art. A few years ago, I made a disco mirror and I couldn’t stop making them. That’s how the disco mirrors started. It was something that was bringing me a lot of joy and I wanted others to have the same feeling when looking into one so I just kept doing it. I am very proud of how far I’ve come and all the projects that I have gotten to work on. From just private clients to major clients using my pieces for music tours or public spaces. It was definitely not easy to get to where I am today and there were a lot of ups and downs, but I just never gave up. Being an artist was my life long dream and I was finally doing it and didn’t just want to give up on it just because it was hard sometimes. Thankfully, I am very dedicated to my work and I have friends and family who supported me through out this while process and helped me stay on track, this was mostly how I overcame any challenges. The biggest lesson I learned through this process was to be patient, be patient with your dreams, be patient with your work and be patient in life in general. I want the world to know that I love what I do and this wouldn’t have been possible if I wasn’t a dreamer. I want to be an example to people who have dreams and inspire them to follow them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my sister, Lana. She is the one that inspired me to start a business. She was always trying new things and would always be successful in things she tried and I wanted to be like her. She is very goal oriented and dedicated to anything she does. She did help me in many ways and whenever I need business advice, she is one of the people I go to. She has also built an amazing business on her own (SDPartyFavors) and we sometimes collaborate on little things together and hope to keep doing this for as long as possible.
