We had the good fortune of connecting with LILIANA TRUJILLO and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LILIANA, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Although it’s not my career it is a hobby that has turned into my passion & my therapy. I realized I couldn’t stop graphic design, the more I create the more I love what I do. My brain won’t stop, always thinking of new ideas & new creations, I turn on my Pandora, put in my earphones, get comfy, cozy & play my favorite playlist. I let my mind flow, sketch & create to be able to show my fan art through my creations. Putting a smile on people’s faces is what makes me happy & I knew I had to pursue what I love to do!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started from the bottom back in 2003 with MySpace, when I would design the profile page with html codes. 2019 I started my small business on social media DIMPLES CUSTOM CREATIONS creating logo designs for social media, business, flyers, business cards, product branding, merch, watermarks & photo editing. Now we are here 2022 in the social media era with Facebook, Instagram & Tik Tok where thankfully it has open many doors, where I’m able to continue my growth. It sure has not been easy, especially when you have medical conditions. In my case I have 1 kidney & have been struggling since birth, always getting sick, constant ER hospital visits. Sometimes it’s not possible to design as I’m not feeling my best & of course life itself as it comes with it’s troubles but with Jehovah God & my husband in my life everything is possible. I’m no quitter, I keep pushing & challenge myself every day, keep positive & never forget that I do this because I love it & not for anything else. When I remind myself of that, that is when everything goes just how it’s meant to be. I’m so blessed & proud of how far I’ve gotten & to some it may not be a lot but to me it’s everything as every single creation I’ve designed has all my love, time & dedication put into it. To see how much love & support I receive is simply priceless. I’m excited for what the future holds & I’ll continue on creating my way through living one kidney at a time as I like to say & keep learning along the way. With everything comes lessons learned & at times I’ve learned the hard way that nothing is easy. Now a days with social media as easy as it is to tag someone or send a msg, it’s definitely not as easy to get someone’s attention or get someone to acknowledge in my case, my creations & I have to admit I would get frustrated & discouraged, but again I love what I do & now I just create with no expectations (not that I had them before) but rather letting things unfold, let it take it’s course & let it flourish on its own. It has been such an eye opener & I’m able to create with more enthusiasm & less discouragement. What I want the world to know about me, my brand & story? Hmmm?… About me, that no matter the obstacles & tribulations in life you can keep striving. I’m a perfect example as I’ve been through so much but one thing that has shown me is that I wouldn’t be able to accomplish anything if it wasn’t for my Faith & for the love I have for My Heavenly Father Jehovah. About my brand DIMPLES CUSTOM CREATIONS, it wouldn’t of been possible without God & my husband, it’s my baby, my medication, my therapy, my hobby, my passion, our small business. It has helped me tremendously with my anxiety & depression. I could be in the hospital & I’ll still be creating. All my creations are made with lots of love & dedication & every single one of them I try to personalize it to put a smile on people’s face. That I genuinely create with all my love showing my support the best way that I can, with my artwork. Although the makeup community is where it all started, DCC will be creating outside the makeup community as well & explore new horizons. I’m so excited!!! About my story… I was born with 1 kidney, I had my 1st surgery when I was 3 days old, total of 16+ surgeries throughout my life. That no matter if I’ve felt useless as I can’t hold down a job due to my health, that thankfully I have my support system who doesn’t ask nothing of me but to take care of myself & never give up. That maybe I don’t have a 9-5 where I clock in but having Dimples Custom Creations is not just my job but one of my passions where I get to clock in & out at anytime in the comfort of my own home, San Diego, CA in our van based of Del Mar, CA. No matter if it’s not a consistent job, I’m very much blessed to have had started my small business & be able to help my family & make the load less heavy. To never give up because we have potential no matter when we feel we don’t. Know your worth as no one else will. Everything is possible when you put your mind & dedication to it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly I don’t go out as much but I love to go fishing with my husband off Ocean Beach & Imperial Beach Pier. We like to keep it simple, we love to take walks & Seaport Village is a nice place to go for a walk, fun shopping & good food. Fiesta Island is where we love to hang out as you can appreciate the beautiful scenery, it’s family oriented & there is a few fun activities that you can explore. The malls I like to go to is Plaza Bonita, Fashion Valley & Horton Plaza, they are really nice to hang out & of course do some shopping. Downtown San Diego is another place to go & explore.  To go eat, we love to go to Phil’s BBQ, the best ribs in beautiful San Diego! Some delicious halibut at Point Loma Seafood & Sushi Bar for some delicious seafood. Again, I don’t go out much but we know San Diego, CA is truly a beautiful City & there is so much to explore. Of course it has the most beautiful weather & beaches, my favorite place to be for sure!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Obtaining followers on social media is not an easy task. It takes a lot of work but I have been blessed to reach an amount of followers that are such beautiful people & maintaining is very important to me. Numbers to me aren’t important & having 1 supporter is enough but to have the amount of support truly pushes me to keep striving. There are quiet a few people I would like to shout out… Special shout out to my San Diego friend Gio, from Glam Gio Lashes LLC for always supporting my small business by blessing it with her beautiful beauty products with my logo designs. I’m so thankful for you friend, may your business prosper always!
