We had the good fortune of connecting with laurie miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi laurie, what inspires you?
I have always been inspired by nature. Being in nature gives me a sense of peace, and clarity when moving forward on my vision.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We purchased our 157-acre property 20 years ago. It was raw land, and we had no idea what we would do with it; we fell in love with it.
We contacted NCRS Natural Resources Conservation Service. They came to the property, and we created a plan to restore wildlife habitat, remove non-native plants, and add native trees and plants.
After 20 years of conservation work, the land is alive again, and wildlife is thriving.
We are entering into another 3-year conservation project. This will include creating multiple pollination gardens to support native bees and butterflies.
Being inspired by nature by living on this beautiful property inspired me to create my Nani Pua skincare line using organically farmed botanicals. www.nanipua.com
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I just had friends in town. They slept in our two-story tree house, and we made lemon lavender ice tea from one of our hundreds of lavender plants and sweetened it with our honey. Later in the day, we went to a farm-to-table dinner at Stehly Farm. The dinner was amazing. I also take friends to Coastal Roots Farm, which has beautiful produce and beautiful people. They also do farm-to-table dinners.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
