We had the good fortune of connecting with Lamicka Cottingham and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lamicka, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
Being an active and involved full time parent has shown to be A positive impact on my childrens personal and school life.
I am A proud parent of 2, family values and life lessons are going to happen more often than not. I use all of my tools to help communicate and enage with my children . It is A rewarding job to be involved as parents, but the best part is raising my children so they are able to navigate their own futures.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We currently operate as A cottage bakery and dessert pop-up shop. We also offer catering for our baked goods and dessert for any life event. We are excited to reach other spaces and cities around San Diego, becoming A staple in different communites has shown us that growth is A positive change. Nothing in life is easy , however it is managable to overcome many challenges.
Anyday we vend/cater there is always A lesson to learn and room for growth. We want the world to understand that we are here and have plans to stay! Our brand is growing and we will open the doors for others in the future.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Anyone who visits will request A homecooked meal from myself. I take pride in providing A full course meal for my loved ones. The taco shop is A San Diego staple, for an authentic quick meal we would head to Humbertos Taco Shop near national ave, my favorite taco shop since my childhood. The beach or A farmers market or garden, would be the best places to visit and hang out at.
Being around A community you can support is exciting to me, shopping local, and meeting new people is showing others what our city has to offer. We have variety and you must do the footwork to check it all out

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Id love to shout out my My husband Michael Cottingham, he is my other half in life(15yrs) and in business. He has shown support and encouragment to me, as I embarked on this idea turned buisness starting over 10 years ago. He is one of the most hardworking and determined individuals that I have ever known, and we have known eachother since childhood.
As he is A great father to our children, he is also an upstanding business man who balances A full time career, while operating his own business,
Black Water Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning.
Making time to work with my business as needed, his assistance is such A blessing. Compromise and time managment help us iron out our day to day, and sometimes our day to night schedules. He is talented all on his own,no matter what the task may be he can get it done.
Let me add that he makes the best peanut butter cookies!
