We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristin Rachelle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristin, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
I think the most important thing I’ve done that had the biggest impact on my kids was having a business that gave me a lot of flexibility to still be around. I am very fortunate to have the ability to still do things like being a room mom or making most of their activities/sports. Working from home has afforded me so many countless opportunities to be as present as possible in my kid’s lives.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I would say what has always set me apart from others along the way is the ability to connect with almost everyone I’ve photographed. Being able to connect with people has always shown in my portraits and it has brought me some of the most amazing repeat clients over the course of my career. It was definitely not easy getting to where I am today. It took a lot of hard work and hustling to prove myself at the beginning. I worked insanely hard to establish myself and make a name for myself. The industry is one of the biggest challenges I face today being pretty saturated. But I’ve realized that there are those who love me and my style and will continue to choose me and for that, I am incredibly grateful! I just want people to know how much their faith in hiring me for their family portraits means to me. I never take it for granted and I’m always so thankful for each and every person who comes my way!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my best friend to Carlsbad first. I adore Carlsbad and I love the beach and restaurants there. I would also take them to Little Italy and Gaslamp for food and drinks. There are so many amazing places to eat in San Diego and that is one of my most favorite things to do! I would also take them on a hike at Daley Ranch in Escondido. It’s a beautiful place to hike and there are so many trail options to choose from. But I think mainly we’d spend time at a beach at sunset….the beach later in the day is my favorite place to be!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would say my friend’s probably deserve a big shout-out! If it weren’t for their support, encouragement and love over the last 12 years, I probably would have not had the success I’ve had running my own business.
