We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristi & Stacey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristi & Stacey, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
We are ironically both from Ventura County but we met in San Diego after starting our own individual beauty businesses. Kristi: I have an early upbringing working behind the scenes in beauty pageants. My parents ran the California Gold Coast Beauty Pageants that were held statewide and featured on the hit show Toddlers and Tiaras. I was born into beauty and was lucky to take the reigns from my experience to create my own business as a makeup artist. Stacey: I grew up in dance and performing arts. This community showed me the value of discipline, creativity and teamwork. Hair and makeup go hand in hand with performance arts so styling was naturally a part of my life. It was always my future plan and I’m so grateful to be doing it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Aside from loving what we do, we love getting to work with clients from all over the country who come to San Diego for their special events. We’ve also been lucky enough to meet international clients traveling to the US. We think it’s unique to have the kind of business partnership we have. We credit a lot of our success to our commitment to balanced communication with each other. We have spent 7 years building our brand together. We are a team, and are able to fill in the gaps for each other and lean on each other when we need to.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Balboa Park North County beaches Vgs donuts Buona forchetta
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We are so lucky to have amazing, supportive parents and friends. We would not have the same level of confidence and evolution in our work that we do without their support. It’s also important for us to acknowledge our own strength and authenticity we’ve maintained along the way. It’s so important to take time to dream big and have faith that you can go the distance in any endeavor you set for yourself. We have so much gratitude for our industry colleagues, especially our wedding coordinators, photographers and videographers we work with directly. We receive amazing referrals from them. Photos and videos have a huge impact for us as we use these to market our craft.
