We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Bell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimberly, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
A dream of being an entrepreneur and owning my own business has ALWAYS been a dream of mine. I knew I was a leader at heart. Although I grew up a little insecure of myself, the leader in me never went away. As an adult, if I had an idea or vision of something, I would write the plan down and begin the process to execute the vision and it didn’t matter what it was. The FIRST thing I would do is PRAY! I would write down what I wanted and I would pray to God about it. In time, (some years) things would start to align and I would begin the journey of entrepreneurship.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As I stated earlier, I’ve always felt that I was a leader at heart. But, because of the rejection I faced as a child and teen I think I carried that with me into my adult life. So for fear of rejection, I would a lot of times stay quite, be a people pleaser or just accept a lot of things and not use my voice. Fear and rejection had a hold on me. I held my own self back from ALOT! Every time I would experience rejection it would shrink me more and more if that makes sense?!…. I would find the safe place of “people pleasing” to keep from losing friends, making sure others are happy and just shutting down my feelings, thoughts and dreams. I would express these things to my mother who was my very best friend! We talked about everything and she of course knew me better than anyone. She would always be that listening ear and encouragement for me and if she said it, I BELIEVED IT! So her voice, presence, guidance, support, push, love , prayers were everything to me! She eventually was diagnosed with early on set dementia and eventually lost her speech, which typically you lose at the end she lost her speech first! Omg, so not being able to have her talk to me, push me, guide me and encourage me was a big hit! I didn’t know what to do! That’s when I learned I had to dig deep and remember what she had taught me and instilled in me! I also had to lean on my faith and love for God that she also taught me! I really had to dig DEEP!! Eventually my faith got stronger and my relationship with God got stronger, the more I prayed and became consistent committed to my relationship with God, I got stronger and stronger and stronger! I started to believe in myself, trust myself and tap into my purpose! I always knew I had a gift but didn’t know what it was or how to even explain it!! The gift of ENCOURAGEMENT! Someone told me that one day, and that stuck with me and it was like a light came on and for me the journey began’ I started to walk in my purpose, of being a light , inspiration and encouragement to others! I always wanted a place where people could come to celebrate life, accomplishments and togetherness. My husband who is my business partner and best friend began to pray and do the work and now we have 2 event centers in the nashville area. I’ve always wanted a beauty salon, I can’t do hair nor am I licensed but I LOVE to see the transformation and the happiness when a woman gets her hair done, us women love that! Well one day while in the heart of the pandemic, my family and I got out for a minute to grab dinner and the place we went to pick up food was on an hour wait, my husband said, we can wait we will just drive around to kill time. Little did I know we would drive right down the street and see a building that we could open for small businesses / office suites!! We saw the building, prayed and started the work and now we have business/office suites in the Goodlettsville area for hair stylist, nail,  technicians, esthetician , makeup artist and other small businesses! I’m able to provide a space where people can run their business and uplift women in beauty, confidence and self esteem! Talk about pay it forward!! I LOVE IT!!!! I mentor, I love to see women win succeed! I love to call myself your “Push Friend” to my mentees! I also am the visionary of a women’s empowerment movement entitled “Brunch’n with Bella!” Now….,  that’s my baby! I get to motivate, encourage and inspire women just like myself to become their best self!! It’s soooo fulfilling and a blessing to many!  It’s a quarterly brunch for women! We empower through togetherness, experience and testimony! We encourage women to always put God first, to believe in themselves, to love themselves and to do it scared!! One of my most proudest accomplishments is to see women shift their mindsets, believe in themselves and forgive themselves to become their best self!! That makes me so happy! I’m also co-owner of M’Sha’ & Co clothing boutique with my daughter Mylah Sha’ ! We are online and we simply LOVE FASHION! It’s yet another way to empower women to love themselves, feel good about themselves  and to know if you look good you feel good!! And lastly, I’ve recently launched a collection/ brand entitled, The Girl You So Dope Collection! It falls under the umbrella of Brunch’n with Bella where women know, understand and feel their worth and are encouraged by things that I feel are dope!! Right now, we have eye wear, hats, tumblr cups, and earrings! Soooooo DOPE!! God has been good to me and he has blessed me in so many ways!! I believe the rejection was necessary, it didn’t feel good, but it made me strong and it made me fight and it pushed me to walk in my purpose! Life isn’t perfect I have my days and hiccups, but I keep pushing and I keep praying and I keep believing!! I have to give the biggest shout out to my husband Eldridge “Binky” Bell who is my business partner and my very best friend! God blessed me with a partner with the same goals and dreams and together with God we are blessed!!!! Feel free to check out my website, www.iamkimbella.com

I love sweets so we would go to Rolled 4Ever Ice Cream and we would get Cupcakes from the Cupcake Collection!! We would go downtown and go on broadway that’s where you are actually seeing nashville in full effect!!! African American museum, and if it’s football season we would definitely check out a Tennessee Titans game! Those are so fun!! We would shop with some local boutiques and go to the mall.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes, her name is Florence Jordan! She is an amazing woman, mother,  business mentor and push friend! She is an entrepreneur herself and watching her build from the ground up and grow her vision has been unbelievable! She has been a huge inspiration to me! When I would say no or are you sure?, she would always remind me of my DOPENESS and my gift along with what I prayed for and my determination! She has been the push for me in some shape form or fashion, I love her, admire her business mind and appreciate her soooooooooo much!!!
