We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie McGinley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katie, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind Post Pamper is keeping the mission at the center. Our mission is to normalize postpartum care, and to value postpartum as the critical period that it is for health and wellbeing. We feel that success is the pursuit of a worthy cause or ideal and, when the focus remains on the mission above all else, that’s where the best parts of business exist. Nothing is more important than creating a beautiful and healthy space for families to rest, recover, and bond with their newborns. Everything else falls into place when the mission and our “why” is kept in focus.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets Post Pamper apart is that we welcome the whole family. In other countries or cities, it’s common for just mom and baby (plus maybe partner) to check into a retreat. We wanted to create a space where the whole family can check in to rest, recover, and bond. That includes other siblings, spouse, partner, or even dogs! Our Care Team supports the whole family. We can help look over an older sibling to create more space for parents to bond with their newborn, or take your dog for a walk along the beautiful hotel grounds. If grandparents or other family or friends want to join in, we offer discount codes to book other rooms at the hotel, or they’re welcome to visit amongst the common areas of the hotel.

Post Pamper is a sanctuary for families to create meaningful moments together where nobody has to miss out on a thing! Our goal is to take away the headaches of entertaining at home, or keeping up with household chores, cooking, cleaning, etc. in the throes of postpartum. At Post Pamper, we’re a one-stop shop for families to surround themselves with the village of support everyone talks about, and that families desire and deserve!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Post Pamper partners with Noble House Hotels and Resorts, which are some of the most beautiful spots across San Diego. We recommend checking out Adelaide restaurant at L’Auberge in Del Mar, The Spa at Estancia in La Jolla, walk along the Bay path beside Mission Bay Resort, or check out Vessel for happy hour and bites at Kona Kai which overlooks the harbor at Shelter Island. We are incredibly lucky to partner with these amazing destinations!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Post Pamper wouldn’t exist without the influence and inspiration of many other postpartum retreat centers around the world! When looking to other countries, we can see that the data and outcomes are drastically improved compared to the maternal and infant health outcomes in the US. For example, in South Korea, 80% of mothers check into a postpartum care center after birth and their stay is subsidized by the government. Around the world, many countries have more infrastructure and support set up for families welcoming children. We recognize and acknowledge all of the value creation around postpartum retreats that came before us. It’s time that we catch up to the rest of the world. We are starting to see more retreats pop up in US cities, shout-out to Boram in New York, Fourth Trimester Retreat in DC, Yuzi in Seattle, Ahma and Co. in Orange County, Sanhu House in Los Angeles, Utah Postpartum Retreat, and more!
