We had the good fortune of connecting with Kathy Crabbe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kathy, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I followed my intuition which led me straight to a creative, artistic career! Plus, more importantly I learned to trust my intuition, beginning with dreaming. I always wanted to ‘live creatively’ as I told my grandfather when I was 13, but I didn’t really think it was possible until I met my husband, a Southern California architect who convinced me it was! So I trusted, I listened, I made wise choices and I pursued my artistic, intuitive dreams. I moved to California from Montréal, Canada and very quickly became a full time artist and soul reader in the process. Being an artist AND a soul reader, spirit medium, astrologer is a way to combine my desire to be of service with my creativity and my intuition. As women, especially we need to learn how to trust our intuition, something that is knocked out of us by society and the capitalist mentality that says competition and getting ahead, worshiping the god of money is the answer to all prayers. I have learned how to tune in to the voice of my ancestors who tell me that there is a better way to be; a better way to connect with the world and to be of service. The ancestors tell me that we used to listen to the stones and the birds and the blood to help us pass on messages of hope and healing to all. We CAN make a difference, but we need to listen, to awaken those intuitive muscles and to strengthen them in preparation for facing this world of ours, that needs us to be awake and conscious of the wounding we have all suffered at the hands of this madness we call capitalism, patriarchy and psychosis. I support you in your journey to wholeness, holiness and healing and I am here if you need me.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Because my mission is to awaken creativity and intuition in others, I turn a lot of my artwork into oracle card decks (similar to tarot decks but with my own system.) So far I’ve published 3 oracle decks (with another one coming out in 2021) and guidebooks: the Lefty Oracle deck (drawn entirely with my non dominant left hand), Elfin Ally Oracle, Zodiac Goddess Power deck and coming soon, the Cat Herbal deck. For many years I used all of these decks in my astrology readings, soul readings, past life readings and ancestor readings to test them out. The hardest part was sifting through all the images and discarding the ones that didn’t work. The next hardest part was the technical side of things and dealing with the deck manufacturers, but with each deck it gets easier. Writing the guidebooks was also a huge challenge but I love to write and channel so I had a chance to express many of my talents. I love how creating and playing with oracle decks connects us with so many forms of expression opening us up to different worlds in new ways and widening our horizons in the process.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Temecula, Southern California which is smack dab in between the desert, the mountains and the beach so I could take a friend to all 3 in one day – woweee! I would definitely take a visiting friend to my favorite coffee shop in Temecula; Bean Coffee Roasters, then for a stroll through Old Town, visit the Historical Museum, then perhaps some poutine at Devilicious and a brew, then onto the Rose Haven Heritage Garden, and for some healthy snacks at Roots, then some bargain shopping at Western Eagle Foundation. Sadly, our only bookstore is Barnes and Noble or the Friends of the Library.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
