We had the good fortune of connecting with Kate Keesee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kate, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I’m very passionate about empowering women in my community to create beautiful homes with a very tiny budget. To often we get stuck looking at images wishing and dreaming feeling as if it could not become our reality. I share DIY design that is attainable for the everyday woman.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I entered into the career world building a business as a wedding and corporate event planner. I served brides and companies throughout Orange County for twenty five years. My hobby was recycling furniture and interior design. I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus and suffered a stroke as a result in 2015. That event became the pivot into my second career as an interior designer who educates with knowledge on social media.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love the beach areas leading into San Diego and have grown to love the gas lamp district. I’m quite fond of the shops and great.restaurants located there.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother is truly responsible for seeing my creative eye as a child and allowing me to develop that skill early on. In my youth I was allowed to change and decorate my room with little cast offs I found in the neighborhood or that someone was getting rid of. I rearranged the furniture at least every few months along with making my own wall art pieces.
