We had the good fortune of connecting with Kat Knecht and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kat, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking a risk is always something I have thought of as necessary for growth, whether that is in your personal or professional life. If I’m not taking risks I don’t feel like I can evolve, grow and reach my full potential. It may be scary and not always easy, but it’s worth it.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a professional Wardrobe Stylist and recently relocated to Oceanside, California. I have had experience in professional and commercial settings and also working with individual clients. I believe everyone should feel empowered in what they wear! What sets me a part is I pride myself in my knowledge of body inclusive, sustainably made and BIPOC owned brands. I don’t offer a cookie cutter service, instead I tailor everything to your individual needs. I also offer virtual services! This is something that I did long before the pandemic when I teamed up with my friend and photographer Carrie Anne to take her clients experience to the next level. I have gotten where I am today through hard work, but also with the support of others. Having someone to bounce ideas off of and also to push you is a game changer. I am re-locating to Oceanside and while it hasn’t been an easy process it has been exciting and worth it. Having ties to Oceanside through word of mouth and working virtually with those in the area long before I decided to move has been key in helping re-locate my business.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am new here too and am excited to discover new places! Some of my favorite spots and things to do so far are to grab a coffee at The Cup or Revolution Roasters! I love walking along the beach and going to the Oceanside pier. Make sure to mosey through Sea Hive for all their vintage clothing and goods. If you have time get a tattoo with Steel Honey! To finish off the trip make sure you go to LTH (at least once). I also love the little Italy area in downtown SD. It is such a cute place to walk around. I can’t wait to explore more of the area and find new favorite spots.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I think my success isn’t only due to my hard work, but the people I surround myself with. My mother has always been someone who supports me and my sometimes crazy dreams. Whether its moving half way across the world to travel or starting a new business venture, she has always been there to back me up. My professional success and growth has been hugely influenced by my dear friend and business partner Carrie Anne Kelly. I can’t express enough how much of a support system she has been in my career (and our friendship) She is constantly pushing me to expand and grow. She has been a huge support for taking my business and moving to Oceanside!
