We had the good fortune of connecting with Karen Kampfl and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Karen, we’d love to hear about a book that’s had an impact on you.
The Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes was one book that kind of kick started my business. It’s a quick read and I decided to say yes to everything that came my way for a year. I knew I wanted to start a business, I knew I wanted it to be centered around gratitude and kindness but other than that I had no ideas. A friend was teaching an affirmation writing class and she asked if I would come… couldn’t say no because it was my year of yes! So I went and during the class, I had the idea for my candle business. I highly highly recommend this book to anyone who feels stuck or who is afraid and knows they are stuck. It helped me so much. xx

I think luck plays a big part in business, being in the right place at the right time, I think starting this brand when I did was key. People are looking for love, gratitude , strength in their little circle. Candles and self care are very very big at the moment and I think it’s here to stay.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live near Carlsbad Village. Beach, strolling around Carlsbad Village, people watching. Beer or some cocktails, good food .
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
2 people, one is Lynda Cormier Hanser who invited me to her affirmation writing class and who has been so supportive me! And Shalini Vadhera who I have learned so much about business and life and who is such a role model for women in business
