We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaitlyn Kiedrowski and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaitlyn, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
The single most important decision that I make that contributes contentiously to my business is investing in education. Whether it’s taking an online course on something specific within the world of photography, going on retreats to build my portfolio, attending workshops, listening to podcasts or other ways, it is all so worth it. Investing in my business is why I have found success!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My business stands on connections. It is such a joy to meet and learn to know so many incredible humans, and have opportunities to work with them and capture their story. As I shoot weddings and lifestyle photography (couples, seniors, families and more), I meet so many new people all the time. Building this business daily has never been easy, but dang is it fun to make decisions and call something my own. I am so proud of everything I’ve accomplished in the last five years of growing Revel Woods Photo. I see challenges as new path ways to success and take each day at a time. I want the world to know that it is attainable for anyone – you just have to keep pushing ahead. No one handed this business to me, it has been years of hard work, and I am still growing and pushing towards more dreams.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting San Diego, I would bring them to all my favorite places! Breakfast at Buzz, lunch at Ketch, dinner at Waverly. Throughout the day we would also shop, explore the coast, hike and watch the sunset at Sunset Cliffs. My favorite part of San Diego is sitting by the ocean and enjoying the view.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A lot of my success comes from hard work and connections with others in my field. Two people I want to shoutout and say thank you to are Nicole Midwest and Dawn Charles. I have learned so much from both of these women and have been following them since the beginning of my photography career. They both do incredible work and I am thankful to look up to them.
