We had the good fortune of connecting with Jus and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jus, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
My goals being met, my wife’s safety and happiness, my bills paid, and daily progress being made in my career because all that brings me peace.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My music is an extension of who I am and the man I strive to be. What sets me apart from others is the fact that I don’t make fictional music. Everything that I speak about is true. As for the sound and style, I can’t be placed in a box because I love so many different sounds.

My proudest moment was performing in the BET Hip Hop Awards Cypher alongside Hopsin, Schoolboy Q, Mac Miller (rip), Mystikal, and DJ Premier. I won the BET Hot 16 Contest hosted and judged by none other then DJ Khaled to get there. In the future, I’m excited to sign with a major label and having a STRONG team around me. I want to do what I love for a living.

The music industry isn’t something that’s easy to navigate. I’m at where I am today through long studio nights, many mixtapes, lots of money spent and stolen from me, bad management, good management… I’ve even found myself homeless on the streets of LA for a while until I got back on my feet. There have been times where I wanted to give up, but when something is in your DNA, you can’t let it go.

Some lessons I’ve learned along the way is to be a man of your word. Do what you’re supposed to do, even when it’s hard. That’s called being a man of integrity. Not a lot of people practice integrity in the world. I’ve also learned to distance myself from those who do not practice integrity.

I want people to know I’m a hustler, a go-getter. When it’s all said and done, I want the world to know I existed.. I want people to know I had dreams and achieved them. Most of all, I want them to be motivated and inspired by my actions.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a spontaneous person. I hate making plans. I just do whatever feels good in the moment, but I’m sure we would do all of the following:

– Get a fresh cut at NZ Barbershop from my guy Fred Fells
– Go Shopping at Fashion Valley Mall
– You’re not an official San Diegan until you go to the Safari Park and the Zoo, but mainly the safari park.

– Gotta hit up Sea World
– Check out my favorite breakfast/lunch/dinner spots: High/Low in Oceanside, The Tequila Factory in Old Town on Sundays, Morning Glory in Little Italy, Casa Guadalajara in Old Town, Morton’s Steakhouse, Cannonball at Mission Beach, I love Cheesecake Factory because it’s classic, so many more to name.
– Gotta hit Gaslamp Thursday night – Saturday night: ALL the clubs. We have the best downtown scene in CA, maybe the whole country.
– Have some laughs at the Laugh Factory
– Drunk video game sessions at Dave and Busters lol

…so much to do

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shout out God, my Dad – Michael Langford, and my mom – Rhonda Langford. I’d also like to shout out all the books I’ve read: Steve Harvey – Jump, DJ Khaled – The Keys, Russ- it’s all in your head, Kevin Hart- I can’t make this up, Les Brown- Live your dreams, Will Smith- Will, and Napoleon Hill- Think and Grow Rich. Big ups to Organic Music Marketing and Distro out in Atlanta. Cody Patrick – CEO of OMM and Distro/Asylum Records A&R. Keenan Williams- motivational entrepreneur.
