Meet Julie Harris | Founder and CEO

We had the good fortune of connecting with Julie Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Julie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have been in the bar and hospitality industry for over 20 years and specifically, the wedding world for the past 6 years and I absolutely love getting to help people celebrate life’s milestones. A few years ago I started getting lots of requests to work private events and bartend or help organize bar areas for events so I talked to my husband and we decided to launch our Mobile Bartending business and create our own brand. We have poured our hearts into our business and work hard to make every client and event as meaningful and special as possible. Being a small business owner has been extremely rewarding and challenging at the same time but we are excited to continue to grow with our community and celebrate life together!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started in the service and hospitality industry back when I was 16 years old and basically never looked back. I have worked in many different service areas including serving, bartending, management, private events, hotels, sports bars and fine dining. I have a wide range of experience in the bar service world working and interacting with all kinds of people from many different backgrounds so I can handle almost any situation that is thrown at me well.
Starting my business was actually pretty simple. I have a sales and marketing background in addition to my service background so the skills I have learned from that really helped me figure out the business side of starting something from the ground up. It was challenging at times but I never give up on something I want so I figured it out and am still figuring things out to this day.
Our brand at The Perfect Mix focuses on helping you celebrate the special moments in your life that you want to remember for years to come. We love getting to help our clients enjoy their celebration without having to stress or worry about the bar service. It’s been an honor to get to be a part of so many great events and we look forward to many more!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First I would take them to the Carlsbad beach and walk the boardwalk and visit the village to get some coffee and lunch and maybe a mimosa. Then we’d be off to head down south to Torrey Pines to go hiking and take in the amazing ocean cliff views. I love the zoo and Balboa Park so we would for sure have to plan a day to visit both.
We’d head back north towards my house in Oceanside and I would take them to my favorite winery, Monserate, where we would do wine tasting and enjoy the beautiful scenery. After that I’d go to Arrowood Golf Course to play pickleball and hit some balls at the range before enjoying dinner and a drink.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give a shout out to my girl Khara from Khara Collective in Carlsbad! She has been one of my biggest cheerleaders and has helped this little business grow and gain momentum from her awesome networking events and collaborations. I am very grateful for her encouragement and mentorship.
