We had the good fortune of connecting with Jose Magadan Jr. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jose, what principle do you value most?
To me it is Empathy. If I can empathize with my clients: their work, their struggles, their needs, likes and dislikes, their sacrifices, then I can put their best interests in front of my own on every transaction. I strive to work for them as if it was my own money being used in the transaction. That has allowed me to give good, sound advice on every deal, sometimes even walking away from ones that I thought would be bad ones.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a real estate sales associate with Andrew Arroyo Real Estate (AARE) in San Diego, California. As a graduate from San Diego State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a real estate emphasis in 2008, I ventured into the world of commercial real estate and real estate investments working under a senior advisor for nationally recognized Marcus & Millichap. Having received top notch training from top producing sales brokers and managers, my expertise lies on investment analytics, sales, dispositions, trade-ups, and trade-downs in the multi-family, office, and industrial sectors. I specialize in negotiating top-dollar for my clients as well as preserving and creating wealth among them. After six years at Berkshire Hathaway California Properties, and in order to advance my career under an ever-changing market, I decided to join AARE with the sole purpose of learning and diving into various other product types, now offering a wider variety of services under including leasing and both residential & multi-family property management, along with the already aforementioned experience in residential and commercial sales. Languages: Fluent in English and Spanish.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Places to visit PRE-pandemic: in the summer Coronado beach, the Coronado Hotel, Old Town San Diego and Casa de Reyes, Little Italy and Fillippi’s Pizza Grotto, Balboa Park and The San Diego Zoo, Phil’s BBQ, Tijuana and its culinary cuisine (tacos!), Todo Sushi in Mira Mesa, Tajima Ramen, Manna Korean BBQ, The Boiling Crab, Karl Strauss Brewery in Sorrento, Novo Brewery in Chula Vista. During the winter, a trip to Julian for its famous apple pie and tubing. A little further to Big Bear to go snowboarding and stay in a cabin.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Salvador Cerda. For the positivity and energy he brings to his business and others.
