We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Ottemiller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, what principle do you value most?
The most important principle that drives the business is making people feel their absolute best, both on the outside and the inside. I strongly believe that people who feel good about themselves do good for those around them which creates a positive ripple effect on society. Our goal is to focus on our clients not as a means of making money but as a means of helping them feel beautiful, confident, and valued.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’ve always had a passion for the beauty industry and connecting with people. After graduating college outside of Philadelphia, PA I worked on the corporate end of a cosmetics company based in NYC and loved what I did but found myself missing the creative, hands on side of the beauty industry. After moving to San Diego with my Husband and pup, I decided to finally make my lifelong dream come true and launched Luna Beauty! It has been one of the most rewarding decisions I ever made. I thrive off of the ability to make people feel beautiful in their own skin and this business has given me so many opportunities to connect with amazing women and men. I only hire nice, empathetic people and believe that we stand out amongst other businesses in our industry because we care deeply about each and every one of our clients. We work to connect with our clients on a personal level and nothing makes us happier than to see our clients radiate their outer and inner beauty. We have had a few hurdles to overcome, specifically COVID-19, but are excited to be on the up swing. We worked and continue to work very closely with all of our brides that had to reschedule (often multiple times) and did our very best to accommodate their new dates with compassion. It has been a tough time for everyone but we want our clients to know that we are always there for them!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We have had the pleasure of showing a lot of our friends and family from home all that San Diego has to offer! I always love to take people to the Coronado Dog Beach, Balboa Park, Kate Sessions, Torrey Pines and to have a little bonfire along Mission Bay. We love to eat and drink and some of our favorite spots to take people are Karl Strauss Brewing, Coronado Brewing Company, PB Fish Shop, Taco Surf in PB, Sushi Ota and many others! I’ve also had a lot of our visitors take kickboxing classes with me at Rockbox in Pacific Beach and they all fall in love with it every time! We do lots of long walks on the beach and enjoy the San Diego sunshine!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to my Husband, Zeke, for being a never ending support system and making life so wonderful. He talks through countless hours of business decisions with me and is always willing to help in any way possible. His constant encouragement gives me strength and his love inspires me.
