We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Dineen-Cosh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
My husband and I actually came up with the idea of Bleu Oak Charcuterie together! He has a culinary background and made them for many family events and the holidays. Myself and others pushed him to start a side business creating them for others. So we decided to start making them together as a side hussle on the weekends for friends and family as a way to also spend some time together away from our time consuming careers at the time. He had the culinary knowledge and I had the artistic flair. During Covid we both had job shifts, as did everyone, and he changed careers completely and I got let go from my company as they shifted so I took a giant leap and went full time with Bleu Oak Charcuterie and I couldn’t be more happy. I get to create food art and get to be creative with everything I do and also build a business which I never thought was possible.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Bleu oak Charcuterie is a catering business who specializes in cheese and charcuterie boards and grazing tables. We try to source ingredients that you typically wouldn’t find in your local grocery store to give you an experience you might not be able to create for yourself. starting a business was slow.. I never thought I’d start my own business so I had to learn what was needed to be licensed and insured properly. And then getting the momentum to have customers was also a slow process – social media definitely played a big part in my growth.
Its always going to be a learning process, especially to stay relevant in the community.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
ooh this is a loaded question- so many awesome places popping up in San Diego I’d definitely recommend visiting downtown Oceanside and the rooftop bar in the new Mission Pacific hotel.
Craft Coast brewery and tacos has amazing birria in North County.
Shorehouse in Carlsbad has amazing breakfast and mimosas
Alce in Solana Beach also has an amazing brunch
The La Jolla Cove has a wonderful beach walk and you can visit the seals.
there are SO many other things to do but these are my favorite right now.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give credit to my family mostly for giving so much support to us along the way.
