We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaime O’Shea and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaime, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Team Flawless Bodies is all about life balance. As a full time mom of three, bodybuilding competitor, and sole operator of my own coaching business- finding balance in my life is something I strive for daily.

I’ve built my online coaching services alongside my personal training business from the ground up while working as a full time elementary school teacher with 3 kids ages 1-7 years old. Talk about a challenge !!

As I made the jump into full time coaching, I had to balance so many components of the industry that I was unfamiliar with and felt so overwhelmed, really having to structure and manage my time efficiently to get everything done. Being your own boss brings its own challenges – when your work hours are flexible it can be even more challenging to make it all happen.

In addition to our hectic schedules, I am also a body building competitor. My daughter dances competitively as well, leaving us with a grueling schedule with long hours of training and lots of travel. Truly the icing on the cake. We have learned to love our crazy lifestyle and have developed so much more discipline and dedication in our lives.

Here are some tips to help you stay organized, and really go after the things you want out of life. Make progress or make excuses !!

1. Journaling/reading – spending a few minutes first thing in the morning reflecting on my thoughts and reading helps me calm my mind, calm my anxiety and feel mentally ready to face the day head on.

2. Simplify- Let go of things you don’t need. This includes mindless snacking, binge watching tv, worrying about other people and sticking to what’s on the list for the day

3. Lists- The Big 5 – I make a to do list each day based on priority. The key is – no more than 5 things each day and put them to paper to stay accountable as you cross each one off.

4. Scheduling – I plan out my week down to the details. Including workouts, shopping, and self care time. Planning is so important to reaching any goal.

5. Habits – building good habits and following through regardless of how I’m feeling in the moment is the absolute most important part of my success. Don’t make the emotional decision- trust the process and follow the plan.

Most importantly- be true to yourself and your goals, remember why you are doing it and it’s always worth it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I created Team Flawless Bodies to help educate and empower others on how to properly train and fuel your body in a flexible and attainable way. I customize my programs to truly fit into each of my clients’ lives as a lifestyle they can keep going. We work on our mindsets and learn to love our relationship with food, fitness and our bodies. Learn to build habits for life with an amazing community, working together and supporting each other along the way !

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Oakley, California just off the delta. I love spending time on the water with my family and taking in the beautiful nature here in the Bay Area.
