We had the good fortune of connecting with Jadah Walters and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jadah, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I risk my life everyday to reach my goal of becoming a full time model and actress. Virtual auditions are happening more often due to COVID-19 but there are still opportunities I’d like to take on in LA. All of the information on meeting details are clear regarding COVID-19 safety testing. I also need to continue building my portfolio so it’s necessary for me to set up photoshoots as well as shooting with small or local brands. I get tested frequently because I know I could be exposed at any given event which is definitely hard to manage but I’m willing to do what it takes to succeed safely.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I know I don’t acknowledge my success often but I’m proud of how far I’ve come. I’m more than blessed to have come across several viral posts about mental health and zoom meetings with other artists in the industry discussing how we can grow our brand. I’m super excited to graduate from Grossmont Community College this spring with my Associates Degree in Theatre Arts Acting Emphasis. I have 2020 to thank because working from home made my school work fairly easy to complete with less distractions and stress. I will have lots of free time to start submitting more audition videos to more castings in SD and LA. The only challenge I endured was having thoughts of doubt and disobedience due to all the chaos mid quarantine. I tried my best not to leave my home for any unnecessary reason. I learned not to get distracted and chase what I want instead of waiting for it to come to me. I want the world to know that all my intentions are good. I genuinely care about the SD community and POC community, and I will do more to help when I make it to the top. I’m worth the investments.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I think about this almost every time I go out to enjoy San Diego. You’d expect me to know everything and have experience everywhere considering I’ve lived here all my life but I haven’t. It’s actually a good thing because now that I’m 21, I can be included everywhere and explore. My itinerary would looks something like this: Eat/Drink: C Level, Louisiana Purchase, Javiers, Hash House A Go Go, Niban Japanese, Raising Canes, Coops West BBQ, Granite Lion Cellars, Asia Wok, Northside Shack, and Sugar Factory Visit: Old Town, SD Zoo, Balboa Park Museums, Waterfront Park, and Soledad Park, Sunset Cliffs Hang out: Seaport Village, Coronado Village, Windansea Beach, and Mina Lounge
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shoutout my mom for being the biggest support for my career. She has the most experience and knowledge regarding the entertainment industry out of my immediate family so Im able to gain insight when making important decisionsMy mom is a very busy business woman who started her own brand while committing to her full time job and taking college courses to earn another degree so I’m thankful she still sets time for my needs.. I also want to recognize my sister. I appreciate her being there for me every step of the way, allowing me to pop up at her house any time any day so I can shoot videos or take photos to submit for auditions. I honestly wouldn’t be able to get through choosing the perfect audition self-tapes without the help of my friends and peers because half the time, I’m too indecisive.
