We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacquelyn Kazas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jacquelyn, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my business with my friends Leah and Abby after my own wedding in 2012. My wedding planner was Tori Hendrix of Sitting in a Tree who sadly passed away in 2016. She inspired me to begin my business and helped introduce me to fellow creatives in the industry. I had so much fun with my own wedding and love being creative so it was the perfect career change. Since starting Beijos we have expanded into kid parties, corporate events, and content creation for a variety of companies. We also have a lifestyle blog to showcase our creative abilities on all fronts.
What should our readers know about your business?
Beijos is an event planning and design company along with a lifestyle blog that showcases anything from our events, kids parties, travel, recipes, diys, home design, and much more! We strive to wow our client’s event after event and really bring out their individuality in their parties. Something I love is a good challenge, and our clients often do that with different themes or requests. We are constantly creating and sharing our ideas on our blog. Something that sets us apart from the rest is that you will always find new inspiration from Beijos. We share fun ideas week after week with our readers and are continuously finding new ways to be creative. We have worked hard to get to where we are and I still strive to improve and reach new goals. Focusing on our own path and ignoring the outside noise has helped keep us moving forward, and in a time of social media, that isn’t always easy. Having good word of mouth through clients and vendors we work with has been key, along with a great support system from our followers. Being confident in your product and service is a must in this industry. We learn something at every event and weekly with our blog, which I love. It’s important to continue learning so you can grow personally and professionally.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend was coming to visit me in Orange County I would of course take them to the beach! There are so many great ones around us, from Newport to Trestles. My personal favorite is a little spot near Corona Del Mar called China Cove, a perfect spot to bring little ones. I’d definitely take them on a duffy boat around the bay with yummy bites and drinks. Another fun spot would be Lido Marina. We could shop and grab a bite at Malibu Farm, Bear Flag, or Lido Bottle Works. If Disneyland was open that would be another must for me – I am a huge Disneyland fan along with my kiddos!!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family is my biggest form of support and inspiration. My husband Nate has continuously pushed me to pursue my dreams and supported me to do so. My sons Court and Cruz are always my happy helpers and eager to see what Mommy is creating, they are definitely my inspiration. Of course, my parents and sister are my number one fans and are always there for a little extra love or guidance when I need it. Lastly, my business partners Abby & Leah. I’m grateful to Abby for sharing her creativity with me and to Leah for being my constant supporter and companion in this crazy ride!
