We had the good fortune of connecting with Inez Laval and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Inez, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting my business happened as I was recovering from having surgery. During this time I asked myself what did I want for myself, my life, and my career and realized that I wanted to start my business. Once I made up my mind on it there was no turning back and I made the moves to make it happen.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is a waxing and facial studio in West Hollywood called Waxing By Inez. What I’m most excited about my business is the fact that its always evolving and it allows for me to be creative and inventive. I got to where I am business wise due to hard work and determination. Being in business for yourself is hard there are lots of ups and downs and challenges that come with being a boss. Some of the challenges I find in business is creating a team that understands your vision and what you want, but when you do find that team it makes the journey even better. Some of the lessons I learned along the way is that not everyone has your best interest when it comes to business. Being picky and making sure it’s right for you isn’t a bad thing. My brand is about creating a space where waxing doesn’t have to be painful or a scary experience. It’s about feeling good about yourself and realizing that a waxing appointment can be just as fun and exciting as getting a facial.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some of my favorite spots are The Butcher The Baker and the Cappuccino maker in West Hollywood. They have a great brunch and an amazing starburst coffee. Another favorite place is Palm Coffee Bar in Burbank for their Lucky Charm Matcha and we definitely go to Guisados for some amazing tacos. We would defiantly visit the beaches what’s a day in LA without a least one beach trip a month. We would do Fairfax Flea Market and find some cute local spot that has local artist sing and play music. The city of LA is so full of some much diversity and excitement that finding something to do is never an issue..

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I like to shoutout my daughter for being my inspiration and biggest supporter, as well as my close friends and family for always being there and supporting my vision and dream.
