We had the good fortune of connecting with Gianna Gonzales and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gianna, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I started my own business, I was looking to create an event planning company that was built on family values and served a wide range of cultures and people. Every wedding is an opportunity to celebrate love and tell each unique love story. A lot of the time, event planning can end up becoming very stressful and the meaning of the event can get lost. My business partner and I wanted to start a business that allows couples to enjoy the process of planning their wedding and put the stress on us instead. We both come from large families, so it is important for us to help our clients navigate family dynamics, as family can play a huge role in a life together. We wanted to honor that, as well as make ensure that our clients remain the focus and their vision is executed.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
About Us: Twin Flame Events Co. is an event planning business. We are Southern California based and we specialize in a wide variety of weddings. It was started by two event planners and is comprised of a diverse team with decades of combined experience.
What sets us apart from others? The core values that our company is built on are Compassion, Excellence, and Family. We have a diverse team that comes from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures. What really sets us apart from others is our commitment to executing events flawlessly, while treating our clients and their families as we would our own. Each of our personal and professional experiences helps us tell our clients unique stories while delivering impeccable service. Each of our team members has a passion for hospitality that makes us dedicated to our craft. Our experiences with a diverse range of cultures is also what sets us apart.
What am I most excited about? I am the most excited about getting to help our clients dream weddings come to life! I get to be a real life fairy godmother. Weddings are unique because there are few other jobs where you get to be surrounded by that much joy, happiness, and love. You also get to see the results of all your hard work which is very rewarding.
How did I get to be where I am today business wise? It took a lot of practice to become a solid event planner. I have worked on hundreds of events that range from weddings, to college events, to conventions and I am still learning every day! There definitely were times in my career where I questioned if I was choosing the right path. It was the joy and happiness of my clients that solidified that I had picked the right career. I was fortunate that throughout my career, I was hired and supported by a variety of people who really believed in me, saw my potential, and helped mold me into the event planner I am today. Each of those people took a chance on me and I will forever be grateful for that.
My first full time job out of college was as a wedding planner for a company that owned several wedding venues throughout Southern California. It was with that company I learned how to plan weddings top to bottom. After working there for a few years, I got a job offer to do more corporate events and conventions, and I decided to switch gears and pursue that branch of hospitality. I love working in a business environment, but I realized how much I missed weddings, and I decided to start my own business, so I could keep my job doing more business centered events while pursuing my passion for weddings.
As any business owner could tell you, having your own business requires a lot of work and dedication. My passion for making my clients happy is definitely what drives me. One of the most important lessons I have learned from owning a wedding planning business, is that being genuine and going above and beyond is what helps establish strong relationships, whether it is with other vendors or clients. People want to know that you care about them and don’t just view their wedding a business transaction. We are invested in each and everyone of our clients, and because weddings are so personal, that care and commitment is what makes us amazing wedding planners.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
1. Balboa Park is a must! The stunning architecture is some of the best in the city! It is one of the number one tourist spots in the city.
2. Kate Sessions Park- Another Place for a stunning view of mission bay and the city.
3. The Coronado Landing- This is by far my favorite place in the city. Whether I am entertaining company, looking to relax, or having a bad day, I always find myself here.
1. Rosina’s in North County is one the best places in San Diego for Italian food. I was born and raised in San Diego, and this is my go to spot to recommend delicious Italian food. Rosina herself is there almost every night to explain her daily specials to her customers.
2. Cloak & Petal: This is where I suggest people visit if they are looking for something unique and trendy.
3. Bobboi Gelato in La Jolla: Hands down the best gelato in the city. I recommend the Rosewater & Honey Gelato
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
