We had the good fortune of connecting with Francine Pozuelos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Francine, why did you pursue a creative career?
The reason I pursue an artistic career was because art has always been a way of expression. It has also been therapy for me. I’m not always good with words and sometimes emotions can get the best of me so with my clay creations I am able to give my feelings a physical form per say. It’s an outlet and escape from the harsh realities we face in real life. Through my art I have been able to bond and show my son how to express himself. So when in doubt just art it out.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is that I incorporated my culture into my art and surroundings. I like using unique cutters an color palettes that express my distinctive personality. I’m most proud of handcrafting accessories to elevate customer looks. The excitement of waking up each morning to do something I’m so passionate about. There has been moments along the way as an artist you go through imposter syndrome, self doubt, or at times burn-outs. But I learn to remind myself that I do this for the love of my art.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to downtown Coachella to my favorite local coffee shop sixth street coffee and then get on the road to head over to Joshua Tree National Park and check out scenery and shop local. Then after take a drive to downtown Palm Springs for dinner at Tac/Quila. Check out the art boutiques and the street fair to support local artist.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The support of my partner and family that gives me the encouragement to keep going and perusing my dream. My son that gives me the drive and motivation i need to continue and show him that anything is possible. I wouldn’t be where I am without the support of my customers and the ones in the clay community that have lend a hand. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
