We had the good fortune of connecting with Evan Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Evan, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
Opening a restaurant during Covid, We wanted to open before the pandemic but had a real hard time finding a location and when we did getting the landlords to give us a chance. Everyone just wants something commercial in their shopping center so starting out is really tough especially during a pandemic. We wanted to open before and we were not going to let the pandemic stop us.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Nothing is really ever easy unless you happen to just luck out. It takes a lot of trial and error but when you get there you know that’s where you want to be. Its also really helpful knowing that’s where you want to be and i feel that shows in our product. We have a lot of love for pizza and that’s why we do it right. Everything is fresh, you can taste the diffrence.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are plenty of spots to hit around San Diego, I would probably take some friends to Bay Park Fish company. Their sushi and fish is better then most of the places I’ve tried in the area. We would go for drinks at the Open Bar, or Pennant. if we wanted to play tourist maybe La Jolla cove, although that’s not really my style. Definitely going to see a comedy show at the Comedy Store in La Jolla. We would most likely get into some offshore fishing for some tuna, San Diego has phenomenal fishing. I Also really like the Observatory in north park for a good show, plus there are plenty of places to eat and drink there so it makes for a good night out.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Or parents who always have our backs and continue to push us to accomplish our goals.
