We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Wallace and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emily, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor”. I’ve always loved this but can’t think of a more relevant time than now.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Little Point Candles are handmade out of a cozy seaside nest in La Jolla. Every candle is hand wicked, hand poured and hand labeled. It’s a tiny operation out of a tiny kitchen near a big, beautiful beach which is where I draw my inspiration from. I use fragrance that I know is clean and safe for me, my household and most importantly, for you. Good vibes only. Creating momentum for a product in a highly saturated market is not easy but I try to lead with my love for design and my love for the craft. I put a lot of care into packing each order, shipping them in a timely manner and making sure every unboxing experience is special for you or your recipient. It’s the details and personalization that truly set the brand apart.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
All hail Liberty Station. Total gem. I hit up SparkCycle for the best cardio/endorphin boost in SD. Moniker General and Pigment for chic, artisanal goods. In La Jolla there’s no better time to try the new take and bake pizza joint American Pizza Mfg. The crust is perfection. Finally, the sea life near the cove, and action at Windansea never gets old. Truly special.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The continued support of friends and family is huge but also the locals who come across my brand and want to support locally made crafts. It’s so thrilling to fulfill a “stranger” order! I always offer a 20% off code to new customers.
