Meet Elisa Legner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Elisa Legner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elisa, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
At Ocean Villas of Carlsbad, we believe that hospitality can be a force for good—both locally and globally.
On a community level, we support the local economy by partnering with nearby small businesses, from cleaning teams and landscapers to local cafes, restaurants, and experience providers. Every guest we welcome contributes directly to the livelihoods of people in our town. We also take pride in showcasing and recommending local hidden gems, helping visitors experience Carlsbad in a way that respects and uplifts the community.
On a deeper, human level, our mission is to create a space where families, friends, and couples can come together and build memories that last a lifetime. In today’s busy world, offering a peaceful oceanfront getaway allows people to reconnect—with each other and with nature—which is deeply valuable.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart creatively is that I lead with authenticity and a deep-rooted passion for meaningful connection. I actually started out in this industry knowing very little about vacation rentals—but I’ve always known that I thrive through creative expression. I can’t market or promote something I don’t fully believe in, so when I found a property and partnership I genuinely connected with, everything started to click. It all happened organically.
I’ve taken that passion and poured it into everything from branding and storytelling to the guest experience. I even taught myself how to design and build two full websites—something I never imagined I’d be capable of. That’s one of the things I’m most proud of: discovering what I could accomplish by combining creativity with belief in what I’m building.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My curated list of hidden gems, in no particular order, would be:

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Working with the owners of Ocean Villas of Carlsbad has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. This property isn’t just family-owned — it’s family-oriented in every sense of the word, and I’ve been incredibly grateful to be welcomed as part of that family.
From the beginning, they’ve trusted me with creative freedom and empowered me to bring my vision to life, allowing me to grow, take ownership, and truly thrive in my role. Their support, warmth, and belief in collaboration have made this so much more than a job — it’s a partnership rooted in shared values and a deep love for hospitality.
