We had the good fortune of connecting with Elani Kay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elani, what principle do you value most?
I live by the principle that ‘energy does not lie.’ I’ve experienced enough in my life to where now it’s extrememly rare that I’ll engage with someone who’s energy is dark or negative, but I fully trust my intuition and I know when someone’s energy is off. I believe that life, business, and our paths in life are centered around the relationship we have with ourselves and others. There is an energy exchange that happens with yourself and when you engage with others. If it feels right, it can turn in to something amazing. If it feels off or wrong, it will usually end up out of alignment and end in chaos. Trusting your intuition on the energy that you feel from others should be your monitor on what direction to go.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As I’ve come to the bridge of truth, I’ve learned that there is healing and inspiration in sharing your story. I think what sets me a part from others is that I hardly ever highlight the fact that I am a full time Mother of three boys, I am an Asian American woman in a male dominated industry, and despite all the setbacks I’ve endured, I continue to be positive, optimistic, and faithful. I am a survivor of assault, of domestic violence, character assasination, and other various types of attacks. I think we all experience forms of attacks which ultimately is designed to keep us from reaching our greatest potential and designed to discourage us and keep us from the light. Anytime something awful was occuring in my life, I tricked my mind in to holding on through the tears and pain and looked forward to what good was coming next. In every survival story I’ve ever heard, there was always light at the end of the tunnel and that’s what I’ve chosen to believe. It’s all about “light:” sharing your light, spreading light, being the light, loving the light, and embracing the light. More light in your life, on this planet, and in the world elevates us all. Nothing is permanent, which is why you should never give up, but also you should be grateful for every good thing that you experience, is given to you, and that you have.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh goodness! If my bestie was visiting the area, I would definitely take her all over. I’d take her to Nobu, Catch LA, BOA Steakhouse, and also grab tacos, sushirittos from the foodtrucks, and get some vegan food too! We may spend a day at Burke Williams Spa and then spend another day at Universal Studios. We would make some time to catch a movie of course and spend the day in Santa Monica at the pier. We would be mostly spontaneous and go with the flow!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When it comes to gratitude, I have an enormous amount of gratitude for so many people. I actually want to highlight a few specific people and shout out a huge “Thank You” to all those who have contributed to my journey. I’d like to thank my three sons for being supportive, being strong, and being so loving as I’ve gone through this path of entreprenuership which hasn’t always been easy. I’d also like to thank my unconditionally loving parents. I’d like to thank all of the service workers who have been there for my business when it came to all the issues I’ve had with the commercial property. I thank my business partners. I thank all of my clients. I thank my spiritual advisors, my friends, and my supporters.
