Meet Dr. Stephanie White | Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Psychopathologist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Stephanie White and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Stephanie, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My mission is to make high-quality, evidence-based mental health care accessible to individuals across the country, regardless of their location or circumstances. By providing tele-mental health services, I help reduce barriers to care, support emotional resilience, and promote mental wellness for those who might otherwise go untreated.
Through my work, I empower clients to improve their overall functioning, strengthen their relationships, and navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity and confidence. Beyond individual care, I aim to reduce stigma around mental health, educate communities on trauma-informed practices, and contribute to a society where psychological well-being is prioritized and supported.
In essence, my practice helps the community and the world by fostering healthier minds, stronger families, and more resilient communities, one client at a time.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business, Dr. Stephanie White, LLC, is a multi-jurisdictional tele-mental health practice dedicated to providing high-quality, evidence-based mental health care to clients across the country. What sets my practice apart is the combination of clinical rigor, accessibility, and personalization—I meet clients where they are, both literally through telehealth and figuratively through individualized treatment plans that respect their unique needs, strengths, and challenges. I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve built a practice that not only treats mental health concerns but actively empowers clients to regain control over their lives, improve functioning, and build resilience.
Getting here was far from easy. Building a private practice that spans multiple states requires navigating complex licensure regulations, insurance policies, and logistical hurdles, all while maintaining the highest standards of clinical care. There were moments of self-doubt and setbacks, but I relied on persistence, a clear vision, and the support of mentors, colleagues, and my husband, Edward, to keep moving forward. I’ve learned that challenges are inevitable in entrepreneurship, but viewing them as opportunities for problem-solving, growth, and innovation makes all the difference.
The lessons along the way have been profound: trust your expertise, advocate fiercely for your clients, and never underestimate the power of empathy and human connection in healing. My brand and story are built on a simple principle: mental health care should be accessible, ethical, and effective—and it should always empower clients to live their best, most functional lives.
Ultimately, I want the world to know that my practice isn’t just about therapy—it’s about creating tangible change in people’s lives, fostering resilience in the face of adversity, and contributing to communities where mental wellness is valued and supported.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting, I’d give them the full Cartagena experience—a mix of history, culture, relaxation, and amazing food.
Old City & Culture: Walk the colorful streets, explore Castillo San Felipe, and take in murals in Getsemaní. Sunset cocktails at Café del Mar are a must.
Beach & Adventure: Day trip to Islas del Rosario for snorkeling and sun, or canoeing through mangroves in La Boquilla.
Food & Wellness: Fresh ceviche, Colombian fusion at Carmen, and a local cooking class. Morning yoga or coffee tastings keep the mind and body refreshed.
Nightlife & Local Vibes: Rooftop cocktails at Alquímico and live salsa in Getsemaní—immerse in local music and culture.
I’d make sure my friend leaves with not just photos, but real memories of Cartagena’s vibrant people, history, and flavors—a week of fun, adventure, and reflection.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a heartfelt shoutout to my husband, Edward White, whose unwavering support, love, and encouragement have been the foundation of my personal and professional journey. His belief in me, even on the toughest days, has allowed me to grow as a clinician, entrepreneur, and human being.
I also want to acknowledge my mentors, colleagues, and clients who have shaped my path—mentors who offered guidance and wisdom, colleagues who challenge and inspire me, and clients who trust me with their stories and growth.
Finally, the body of literature and research in mental health continues to fuel my work, ensuring I can provide evidence-based, compassionate care. My journey isn’t just mine—it’s built on the support, trust, and inspiration of the people I’m fortunate to have in my life.
