We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Kristin L. Kahle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Kahle, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my career in the Human Resource and Compliance area, I was in school for my Doctor Degree when the Affordable Care Act was passed (ACA). I decided to read it one weekend, as all people should. After finishing, I thought employers have no idea what they are in for and how to accomplish what our government wanted them to do. It was clear that this bill was written by people that do not own a business or run a business. So I started creating the ways that I could help- more of a service based business at that time. After hearing from clients on what they needed, I knew we needed to create a software/technology solution to help employer Navigate the ACA (no pun intended). Converting from a service business to software, with no software experience was a learn curve for sure- but we have a great technology solution that protects American Businesses.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

I have a love/hate relationship with the word “no.” It’s not my favorite word. (My favorite word starts with an F, and I’ll give you one guess what it is.) As a female entrepreneur in a male dominated industry, I’ve heard the word “no” more times than I can count. If I had a dollar for every time I heard that word, I’d have millions (but that would just be way too easy, not to mention boring, so I went out and made the millions myself). I decided, almost right from the womb, I could let the word NO stop me, frustrate me and make me small or I could rise up against it and prove them all wrong. I chose the latter.

I am strong, determined and unstoppable, and nothing lights a fire under my ass like being told I can’t do something. I find it motivating. Actually, I find it NOtivating. (See what I did there?) If you are a fierce female entrepreneur who is sick and tired of playing by someone else’s rules, I’m here to help you, sister.
