Meet DIOR DARCO

We had the good fortune of connecting with DIOR DARCO and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
DIOR DARCO is a band that combines Alternative Rock, Pop, Metalcore and Indie with electronic and industrial elements. We’re a weird, hybrid, cross-genre band that takes our influences from so many bands and artists that it’s just too many to list. The fact that two of us are based in California and two of us are based in the UK is unique in itself. Writing and releasing music from over 5,000 miles apart. Two of us working while the other two are asleep… Well, Ghost doesn’t really sleep… Which leads us to another reason why we are a bit different. Our bassist, Ghost… We know very little about. One thing we do know is that he slays on Bass and he’s totally obsessed with Zendaya… Don’t ask.

Tom has been in many bands over the years, most notably he was the Guitarist in a UK Metal band called ‘AVANTINE’. Ryan and Tom shared the stage a few times, which is how they met. TJ was the Drummer in a band called ‘Without Grace’, who entered a Battle of the Bands competition organised by Ryan, called ‘UNREAL Fest’ in 2016, which is how they met. Ryan was the Vocalist of ‘Ryders Creed’ for 7 years and Tom took their photoshoots and filmed their music videos during that time. TJ’s previous band, ‘Yikes’ played some of the same festival lineups as Ryders Creed, so we’d all been gigging in the same circuits for years before joining a band with each other.

As far as lessons and challenges go, we’ve made many mistakes, and from those mistakes we’ve learned a lot of valuable lessons. The challenges of trying to “make it” in the music industry are endless, and the price you pay for success is heavy. There are a great many sacrifices needed to be made in order to succeed and it’s arguably one of the hardest industries to create sustainable careers in. Yet, through all of the failures, the adversities, the lessons and the pain, we push on. We’re all determined to achieve the same goals, our ambitions are alined, and that’s so important when forming a band. If the big picture is shared by all members, we know that we’re all moving in the same direction. DIOR DARCO is the big picture. That’s why this band will go further than every member’s previous projects.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Ryan – I live in a little county town called, Stafford. It’s a little bit sleepy, but there are some really nice things to do. I’ve always loved Cinema and Movies, so a trip to the Odeon Luxe Cinema, with it’s recliner sofas, tiered viewing platforms, snacks and Pop corn buckets is always a must. But I’m also a lover of Nature, good food and social gatherings, so… a trip to a restaurant called Verso Lounge for some amazing food, a blissful walk through the outstandingly beautiful Cannock Chase Forest, then a few pints of Guinness at The Swan, sitting by the fire or under the Summer night sky, with friends, laughing and enjoying each other’s company. Of course, finished off with a gig at local rock bar, Redrum!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people already, this early on into our career, that we could shoutout, so just to pick a few… We’d like to show huge love to Fran from BBC Introducing (Radio) as without her support we wouldn’t have had our debut single played on BBC Radio. Huge love to our families for supporting us through every endeavour. Huge love to Patrick for reaching out and wanting to do this feature on our band! Lastly, HUGE LOVE to our fans, every single person so far that’s joined the DIOR DARCO Party! For streaming, watching, sharing, following, commenting, liking, subscribing and consuming our music and our content. We appreciate everyone who’s supported our band so far and that continues to do so.
