Meet Deneika Thomas | Content Creator & SAHM

We had the good fortune of connecting with Deneika Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deneika, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
How much work it is and how hard it can be. A lot of people who watch content assume it’s so easy. Don’t get me wrong it can be. However, for a lot of content creators, it’s a lot of work. As a UGC creator, there are many roles we play. What outsiders see is a 30-second video but what they don’t know is that video probably took that content creator hours to plan, create, and edit.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a UGC creator which stands for user-generated content. I’m also a content creator which is similar with slight minor differences. I make content for brands to bring awareness to their brand. I also make content for myself/ my audience. I love my job! I have a really big passion for creating content. My favorite part of content creation is editing my content and seeing it all come together. This journey has not been the easiest. I’ve experienced a lot of setbacks and delays in my journey. Add being a sahm to the mix. That made my journey even more challenging. Working for yourself in general has its challenges. You have no one to hold you accountable or tell you what to do. You have to be driven and enjoy what you’re doing if you want to succeed in content creation or being self-employed. In this career, it’s easy to get burnt out and unmotivated. It is so important to take breaks when you feel that way I’ve learned. I want people to be able to see the true authentic me and be able to resonate with my content. A lot of my audience are women and moms. I want them to know that yes you’re a mom but you can still have goals& dreams and go after them. The path might not be the easiest but it is achievable.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Good question! Well, San Diego does have the best Mexican food, so I would take my best friend to Lolitas Taco Shop. Its one of my favorites. We would also hit up the beaches as well & take a drive to Sunset cliffs during sunset because it’s beautiful.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband. He has supported my dreams since day 1. He works so hard and I’m so grateful that he gave me the option to be a sahm and work on building my content creating business.
