Hi Dariann, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
One of my first patients at Nova Imaging was a young mother who had spent weeks trying to schedule an ultrasound at a busy hospital. Confusing insurance rules, limited office hours, and long clinic waits left her anxious and exhausted. Seeing her relief when we brought a mobile ultrasound directly to her reminded me why I started this business. It is not just about imaging; it is about making healthcare accessible, personal, and supportive for families who face barriers every day.

Nova Imaging provides mobile diagnostic ultrasounds that give patients critical health information and peace of mind. Our elective ultrasounds also create unforgettable moments, allowing parents to connect with their babies, celebrate pregnancy milestones, and share early bonding experiences that are both joyful and reassuring.

This mission is deeply personal. Coming from a first-generation immigrant family, I know the stress of navigating the healthcare system —language barriers, insurance limitations, and overwhelming hospital visits. Those experiences inspired me to create a space where people, especially within the Latino community, feel seen, understood, and cared for.

Serving my community has always been at the heart of this business. My family’s sacrifices and resilience shaped who I am and inspired me to give back. Every visit, every patient interaction, and every effort to remove barriers reflects our commitment to making healthcare inclusive, approachable, and human.

Through Nova Imaging, we are not just providing imaging services. We are creating access to essential care, helping families celebrate milestones, foster early bonding with their babies, and gain peace of mind. By focusing on accessibility, compassion, and community, we are building a healthier, stronger, and more supported world for those who need it most.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Nova Imaging brings a level of care and accessibility to San Diego that hasn’t traditionally been available outside of clinical settings. By offering both diagnostic and elective ultrasounds directly in the home, along with board-certified radiology reports delivered within 24 to 72 hours, we’ve created an experience that is both medically reliable and deeply personal.

Nova Imaging was born from a desire to make healthcare more compassionate and within reach. Our mobile model helps ease the stress of traditional clinical environments, rigid scheduling, and insurance limitations by meeting families where they are. We focus not only on providing answers but also on creating comfort, reassurance, and meaningful moments, especially for parents experiencing the joy and bonding of pregnancy.

Growing Nova Imaging while continuing to serve my community is what drives me every day. Being able to bring clarity, peace of mind, and support to families during some of their most emotional moments is incredibly fulfilling and a constant reminder of why I started. What excites me most is the impact behind that growth. Every step forward means reaching more families and creating a more supportive and human-centered healthcare experience.

It has also become something bigger than I imagined. Connecting with other women in the medical field, especially sonographers who reach out for guidance on starting their own businesses, has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey. It has shown me that Nova Imaging is not only making a difference in patient care but also empowering other women to believe in themselves and take that step forward.

This journey has not been easy, but I have always had a clear vision. From early in my ultrasound career, I knew I wanted to build something of my own. That vision became my motivation, especially during moments that felt overwhelming. I learned to lean into growth, to ask questions, to embrace being wrong, and to continuously challenge myself. Those experiences shaped both my confidence and my purpose.

Nova Imaging is rooted in transformation and growth. The name “Nova” comes from an astronomical event where a star suddenly becomes brighter, radiating new light. To me, that reflects both the journey of pregnancy and my own path, moments of change that create something powerful and meaningful. Building this has been about stepping into that light while creating something that gives back, bringing clarity, comfort, and support to people when they need it most.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting San Diego, I’d keep it slow, intentional, and a little off the radar. We’d start our mornings somewhere quiet in La Jolla, but not the busy parts, more like Black’s Beach or the trails above Torrey Pines, where it feels untouched and peaceful. Instead of the usual food spots, I’d take them to tucked-away places like cozy cafés in North/South Park, low-key sushi spots along Convoy that locals swear by, and small family-owned Mexican spots you’d never find unless someone showed you. For a reset day, I’d take them to quiet wineries with soft live music and a relaxed, intimate atmosphere, the kind of places where you can sit for hours, unwind, and just enjoy the moment. Golden hour is non-negotiable, but instead of the main lookout, I’d take them to the hidden edges of Sunset Cliffs Natural Park, where it feels more private and a little more raw. At night, we’d skip anything too obvious and find speakeasies you almost miss if you’re not looking, places with no signs, dim lighting, and an intimate feel, maybe ending downtown just long enough to feel the energy before leaving it behind. To wrap it all up, I’d keep it simple with a walk through Balboa or along the harbor at sunset, followed by brunch near the water with no real plans after. That’s my version of San Diego, not the loud, busy one, but the softer, hidden moments that most people don’t get to see.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my parents, who sacrificed their dreams to give me mine. They left their homeland to create opportunities for our family, and without their sacrifice, discipline, prayers, and hardworking hands, I wouldn’t be here today. Their love and example taught me resilience, perseverance, and the importance of giving back. My brothers have been my constant support and cheerleaders, reminding me to keep pushing forward. Everything I’ve achieved with Nova Imaging is rooted in my parents’ belief in me.
