We had the good fortune of connecting with Darby Depue and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darby, what makes you happy? Why?
This may sound cliche, but bringing a smile to other people, making people laugh after a tough conversation. Seeing people whether it be strangers, people I love, coworkers, etc. smiling makes me happy. I love bringing people’s energies up and helping them feel better about themselves.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I do content creation part time as a cosplayer and automotive model. I got into the industry a couple years back when a good friend of mine who also happens to be one of my favorite photographers (@724media) introduced me to the model lounge that i’m currently working with. As for cosplaying, I started cosplaying several years back. It’s a lot of fun, I love the creativity and adding my own twists and unique additions to the cosplays that I do. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that everyone’s timing is different. Comparison is truly the thief of joy and it’s soo important to enjoy the JOURNEY. Be patient, be yourself & stop caring about what other’s think of you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh my gosh, I have so many! For drinks and amazing food, you can always find me in the heart of San Diego, Gaslamp Quarter. One of my favorite spots is King & Queen cantina for their authentic Mexican food & killer margaritas. Round 1 Arcade in plaza Bonita is another spot you can find me trying to win the plushies in the 50+ crane games. 😂

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My loved ones. For always teaching me that it’s okay to be myself and life is too short to be anything else.
