We had the good fortune of connecting with Cynthia Delaney Equilibrium by Cynthia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cynthia Delaney, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Equilibrium by Cynthia was borne from my yearning to share the tools and gifts of my daily practice—to help women drop negative self-talk energy cycles, and discover the joy of balance. I wanted to create space and inspiration for the physical, mental, and emotional healing that begins with finding your equilibrium.
What should our readers know about your business?
I must tell your readers, that starting your own small business begins with just a dream and your passion to serve. And as you go along, you adapt, you pivot, and you find your niche —and that’s exactly what happened with my soul-led business.
Fresh out of yoga training in 2016, my vision of Equilibrium by Cynthia was to create a yoga and meditation studio simply to serve my friends! By converting an open airy loft space in our home into a yoga studio, Equilibrium by Cynthia opened its doors.
As time went by, being a lifelong student and learner, I continued my studies in all things esoteric and metaphysical—working with the aura, spiritual healing, and astrology.
Then in 2020, as the pandemic had us sheltering in place—we took our yoga outdoors. (Necessity is the mother of invention, right?) And guess what?—this move unlocked one of the most wonderful things about Equilibrium by Cynthia—being in our expansive backyard, perched on the canyon’s edge, with the glorious mountain views, we found a deeper connection to our practice within the healing power of nature!
As my business grew, so did my wisdom, knowledge, and services; I added spiritual healing and astrology readings to my offerings, plus 2 local mini-retreats here onsite, and one extended Colorado retreat every year.
I love that Equilibrium by Cynthia exists to celebrate and share the joy of living in harmony and balance; because I believe the greatest gift we bring to the world is our whole selves.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The vibe is always sunny, fresh and casual in Cardiff, thanks to our endearing locals, and the gorgeous climate that we all love.
My favorite spots for feeding my soul in the bounty of this gorgeous Encinitas/Cardiff area are The Cardiff Rail Trail, Cardiff State Beach, Swami’s Meditation Gardens, and really, my own backyard!
Feeding my body with the best of fresh and local provisions, I just can’t get enough of my neighborhood shops: Seaside Market, Lazy Acres, Trader Joe’s, Praeger’s Bread, Baker & Olive, and Lofty Coffee.
My local hangouts for eating out and chilling with my friends are: The Waverly, Encinitas Alehouse, Naked Cafe, Lofty Coffee, Blue Ribbon Pizza, and Best A Wan.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I give a huge shoutout to California!
In this beautiful environment, I fully connected with the healing power of her natural resources—practicing daily yoga and meditation alongside the sea, the mountains, the birds, plants, and all living things. This vibrant state has been a channel for my physical and spiritual growth.
When I think of my Pennsylvania beginnings—especially my early twenties as a junior flight attendant, setting out quite literally into the open skies—I think I always knew that someday, my yearning for transformation would bring me to California; but who knew that falling for a guy from my own hometown would signify the true beginning of my journey by him bringing me smack dab in the middle of a community of holistic health nuts, spiritual seekers and teachers—just like me!?
Thirty years later, Cardiff by the Sea has been the perfect place to raise our child (who is off on their own journey now), pursue our dreams—and continue to grow our souls.
I tell my clients, “Let’s grow together”—calling in the sacredness of each day as we heal ourselves in this naturally beautiful place we get to call home.
